"Thank god." Cammy said, sighing in dramatic relief. His snort drew a bigger grin from her, cutting through the relieved expression she'd put on. "I'd hate to rank lower than a robot."
"Thank god." Cammy said, sighing in dramatic relief. His snort drew a bigger grin from her, cutting through the relieved expression she'd put on. "I'd hate to rank lower than a robot."
"Me too," Alex replied, smiling himself, "Honestly those things can put up a hell of a fight but we can fight better."
"All they've got is coded moves." Cammy pointed out, spinning around and throwing a punch at the air. Her stance was sort of off, but the punch itself was definitely in better form than expected, and the strength behind it had no business being there. "They don't have the ability to put adrenaline and desperation to use like we do."
Alex hummed and nodded. He honestly hadn't expected the punch to be as strong as it was, "That's true," He sighed, "Anyways, we don't need to worry about them."
"That's what they want you to think." Cammy said ominously, grinning as she threw a punch with her other hand before letting them drop to her sides. The colorful bracelets along her skin stood out even in the dim lighting, a few of them seeming to have glow in the dark thread or something. "So they can get the drop on you when you least expect it."
Alex let out a light and quiet chuckle, "I think you're thinking too far into it, Cammy. There doesn't have to me a creepy meaning behind everything someone or something does."
"Or maybe I'm thinking just enough into it. It's all a conspiracy, the robots are out to get us." Cammy snickered, the not-quite-laughter turning into full blown laughter at the ridiculousness of her statement.
Even Alex let out a quiet laugh, shaking his head in disbelief at her. This girl was honestly too much sometimes, “Whatever mate, come on, let’s get moving.”
"Fine, fine." Cammy said amidst her laughter, trying and failing to calm the sound. After a minute or two, she managed to at least soften it to giggles. "Where-where to next? Your turn to lead the way, samurai."
"Samurai?" Alex raised a brow, but turned around back the way they came, avoiding the cabinets and sharp objects.
Cammy followed Alex, occasionally getting temporarily distracted by things, but always catching back up quickly. "Yeah, you got that sword. Duh."
“Aight, whatever you say.” He mumbled, stepping out into the hallway and the light again. He blinked, adjusting to the brightness.
"Now you're getting it." She quipped, bumping into Alex as her eyes failed to make the switch to better vision in the light quick enough. That, and she'd been distracted by something shiny.
Alex chuckled softly, helping to steady Cammy before she fell over. Luckily for him, his eyes adjusted quickly enough and didn't see the shiny object that the blue paladin had been distracted by.
Cammy latched onto Alex's arm as he helped steady her, releasing the limb once she was fairly certain she wasn't about to fall over. "Whoops. My bad. I saw this really cool cup-goblet-thingy and I wasn't looking where I was going."
"No need to apologise, you're fine." He replied, taking the tiniest step away to give her more room to breathe.
Cammy stuck her leg out and spun, testing her balance now that it was restored. Once she seemed happy with it, she let her leg drop with a flourish, pointing down the hallway in one direction, then the other. "Let's get rockin'."
“Wanna race? The loser has to do a dare of the others choice.” Alex knew this was a bad idea but if he won that would be a plus.
Despite knowing very well that she was incredibly likely to get lost again, Cammy grinned, nodding. "Fuck yeah." She chose a random direction, not bothering to give Alex any sort of heads up before shouting 'go!' and taking off. Chances were, he'd catch up without problem.
Alex actually let out a laugh, shaking his head in disbelief before he started rubbing to catch up. He would have commented about how the start was unfair but couldn’t be bothered.
Cammy was laughing, something that probably wouldn't help her chances of winning, but she didn't care all that much. She was allowed to have fun. Take a left. She didn't turn until last-minute, sharply and suddenly, miraculously not colliding with the wall.
Alex on the other hand, did collide with the fall and he spit out a curse, followed by a laugh as he regained control of himself and he sped off again. Surprisingly to him, he was actually having fun.
"Come on, slowpoke!" Cammy shouted teasingly, once she had managed to regain control over her laughter. The laughing didn't affect her running all that much, and she had to credit all the extra laps she'd been stuck running after mouthing off to teachers. And a bonus thanks to the love of my life, the swim team.
Alex shook his head, "I'm coming!" He sped up, pushing his legs faster so he could catch up with her. He was fairly good at running but wasn't the greatest in the world. He was just glad he had long legs.
"That's what she said!" Another sharp turn, and another. A stretch of hallway and then another turn. Cammy's heart raced, and she was grinning ear-to-ear as they neared the bridge.
