"Our first order of business is training." Allura said, shaking her head. "You all did great in that fight, but there is a chance that the adrenaline carried you most of the way, particularly in forming Voltron. I want to see where you are in terms of flight, and I want you all to try forming Voltron without the duress of battle."
“Right,” Shiro started, rubbing his hands together, “Guess it’s off to the training room then?”
"First, to your lions. So we can see the progress we will need to make." Allura said, smiling at Shiro. "And then there will be plenty of training."
"When you say team bonding, what exactly does that mean?" Cammy piped in, arching a brow from where she was sitting upside down on the seat. "'Cause like, my swim team used to do some weird ass shit under the guise of 'team bonding'. One time, we glued our principal's entire office to his ceiling in under an hour, and another time, we all dressed in drag and went grocery shopping. That doesn't seem like it would help much here, but I'd be down."
Shiro raised a brow at Cammy, crossing his arms, "There's going to be none of that here, Cammy. This is a serious business here. Come on, to your lions everyone."
"Well obviously. That's why I was asking what we would be doing." Cammy grumbled under her breath, kicking her legs forward to sort of somersault off the seat into a standing position. "Beat ya out there, dumbass." She called to Alex, the wink she shot him holding something a bit different than it normally had. Something more friendly, like this was a race just to race, not to win.
"Oh no way you're winning this, loser." Alex smirked, sending Cammy a two fingered salute before racing off. There was no way he was going to wait for a certain start, she was fast enough to catch up, anyway, he knew it.
Cammy let out a laugh, taking off after him despite the growing pain in her ankle. He was right, she was fast. A combination of training for swimming and spending a lot of time running just to get out of her foster home did that. She caught up quickly, sticking her tongue out at him before pulling ahead.
Alex laughed, shaking his head as he pushed himself faster. Maybe not as fast as he could go, but close. Was he deliberately trying to lose the race? Possibly. Or was he just making Cammy think she had a chance at winning? Another possibility.
Cammy took the corner almost too sharply, headed for Blue’s hangar, which was close to Red’s by the castle’s design. “Was it left or right after this?” She asked suddenly, glancing over at Alex. Her grin was still in place, strangely not concerned about getting lost, thanks to Alex being there.
"Left dumbass! Take a right and you'll red to red and I don't think he wasn't to deal with you." He called out, picking up his pace so they were neck and neck again.
"I have a charming disposition, excuse you. Everyone loves me." She shot back, sticking her tongue out at him as he caught up. They were nearing the fork where they'd separate, and then the judge of winning would be whichever one of them made it out first with their lions.
He snorted, shaking his head, "Sure they do. Keep telling yourself that blue." The fork was so, so close now. And in only a matter of seconds he was taking a sharp right turn towards his lion.
“Maybe I will, red!” She called back over her shoulder as she took the turn at the same time. They were both pretty close to their lions, and Cammy knew both of them were fast. So at this point, it was mostly up to any outside forces lending a hand or inhibiting their running. Like her ankle, or his issues taking corners.
Alex couldn't help but smile as he almost ran into the wall, so close to the port to get into his lion. He didn't care if he didn't win, at least not this race, even though he'd have to act like he cared. He jumped, grabbing the hang glider and soaring towards the cockpit.
((who should win this one?))
Cammy reached Blue before Alex reached his lion. Not that she had any way of knowing that, of course. All she was focused on was getting out of the castle, even over winning. For once, the win wasn't on her mind, just the race itself. Maybe that was why she landed Blue on the ground just after Shiro made it out, second to the person who would obviously be outside first. She glanced around for Alex, confused for a split second at him not already being there.
She had won. For what felt like the first time, she had actually beat the man she was always coming in second to. And instead of feeling like gloating, she just laughed, the sound light and happy. She was having fun.
Alex arrived in the clearing not long after Cammy. He didn't care he'd lost, for once in his life he didn't care. It had been a fun race and the thrill of it was still rushing through his system as he landed next to Blue, turning on the coms system to talk to Cammy, "how the hell were you so fast?!"
Cammy's laughter quieted, and she pulled her injured leg over her other leg, resting the ankle on her knee to poke at it. "Practice? Spite? Yes?" She said, muffling a hiss with her other hand. Once she was sure she could keep from letting on how bad the throbbing in her ankle hurt, she lowered it. "You put up one hell of a fight though."
(Happy new year <3)
Alex shrugged, leaning back in his chair, "Clearly not a good enough fight to win but ah well, I'll win next time," He rubbed at his chin, "How's your ankle feeling? You probably shouldn't 'ave ran on it."
((same to you!))
"You can hope." Cammy countered playfully, dragging her fingers through her hair. "My ankle's fine. Why wouldn't I run on a fine ankle?" She asked, again blatantly lying to deflect concern.
Alex didn’t believe her, not in the slightest but he didn’t push the issue, for once not wanting to start a fight, “Aight then. Where are Pidge and Hunk?”
"Right here!" Pidge's voice came through the comms, followed by the green lion landing beside the red lion. Hunk followed suit shortly after, nearly slamming into the blue lion and receiving the gift of hearing a flurry of swears in Spanish that would have made Cammy's mother's ears bleed, as she righted Blue.
"Sorry! Please don't call the lion that, though, it's not his fault, it's mine."
Alex chuckled, "Lowkey wish I understood Spanish just to know what you said." He said, throwing his legs over the arm of his chair, flipping his dagger.
Shiro sighed through the comms, "All right everyone, let's focus here, we need to try and form Voltron again."
"You really don't." Hunk said, in response to Alex, over the comms.
"Yeah, yeah." Cammy rolled her shoulders, running a hand through her hair as she straightened somewhat in her seat. "Just one problem….we don't even know how we did it the first time. How the hell are we supposed to do that again?"
