Stella turned at the sound of voices and saw a boy and a girl, "Oh, hello! Who are you?"
Serenade squinted at the siblings suspiciously, moving her wings so they folded around her arms like shields.
The female shrank back, holding up her hands in a vain attempt to cover her white hair. But the male stepped forwards, though obviously scared. "Ancro." he got out.
Locket's speed gradually slowed down. Mos suddenly jumped from Locket, as he lept into the air, grappling onto another creature with the same pelt as the sample that Mos had shown Locket earlier. The creature was fairly large, but smaller than Locket. Just before he latched on, Locket let out a shrill screech that sounded similar to a human person of unknown gender, which had slightly stunned the mammal. The two tussled around in a non-friendly way.
The beast's ears flicked up even further, hearing the sound of a screech. He sat there for several moments, then stood up onto all fours. Once again his wings unfolded from his sides.
"Such an interesting sound…a death cry perhaps? Mm, did not sound quite right…oh well. Makes more sense to scout and find the possible remains and at least get first dibs before some other scavenger moves in and get the good bits."
Then without another word, he rocked his haunches a bit, then launched himself into the sky.
"Ah well, it's nice to meet you Ancro!" Stella held out her hand, "I'm Stella."
He held out his hand tentatively, palm up, while his sister made noises of discomfort and shrank back. It was obvious that she would have run if it were not for her brother staying.
Serenade noticed the scared girl and stepped back a little, hoping the children wouldn’t try to interact with her.
The beast swooped low over the tree tops. His black feathers and fur still nearly blending in with the darkness. His red eyes scanned the world below, taking note of everything. Eventually the sound of a scuffle grew closer. The creature's wings folded against his sides, suddenly dropping swiftly downwards through the sky. As he did, his body seemed to be enveloped in shadows, the darkness covering his body.
Now, settled perfectly on a sturdy branch sat what appeared to be a humanoid covered in nearly black armor. Attached to his shoulders, were a pair of black wings. Golden eyes settled on the scene before him, another humanoid some sort, with another creature, and both were currently struggling with another sort of beast.
"Hm, well this is interesting."
Leaning back on a tree she sighs. I'm so stupid. Why am I always so stupid? Slowly standing she decides to start finding some place to go. The dark forest slowly gets lighter as her vision adapts. Quietly pondering about where she should go many noises surround her. Many noises and sights.
The struggle had come to a close when Locket had the creature tired out on the ground, before Locket’s long tail curled over, the bulb on the end opening up to reveal a sharp stinger. Still holding the creature down, Locket plunged the spike into the creature’s neck, then removed it, and got off the creature. It did not take long for the poison to do its work. While the poison typically did not always kill its target, this case was different.
With the creature downed, Mos got to work, approaching the limp thing, and kneeling down. Mos whispered a few things, sounding similar to ‘thanks’ before she started first with removing the short horns, then working on removing the pelt carefully.
The winged individual watched with interest as the creature swung its tail around, revealing what only he could figure to be a stinger of sorts. As if to confirm his thoughts, the thing lashed forward, striking the thing dead. Now, he has lived a very long time, but these individuals were different from any he had ever seen before.
He remained on the branch, continuing to watch as the other humanoid went to work carving the dead beast apart. Right then, he wasn't the least bit interested in a meal, as earlier he had been. Now all eyes were on these strangers, curious.
"SHHHHHHHHHHH. Someone passed this way." Aza pulled her dagger out of it's sheath.
Stella paused listening to the forest sounds and heard the footsteps, she then reached to her side and grabbed a bundle of leaf-shaped throwing knives, "Who's there?" She called, seeing if they would respond.
Eyelashes fluttering, Aza muttered something under her breath. She opened her eyes and they began glowing with a pale silver light. Whisking her hands in an organized pattern, light streamed from them, drawing a rune in the air. The rune floated off into the night. Delazey landed on Aza's shoulder, then jumped down to the ground, and Shifted into a larger dragon.
Turning to Stella, Aza had clear concern in her eyes.
"You okay to travel by dragon?"
Stella nodded, "Yes. M'lady always took me on her dragons with her, so I am very comfortable by Dragon Transportation."
"Even though it's a daemon?"
"Yes of course," Stella glanced at the dragon, "Beautiful creature. A shame they aren't used too often," She sniffed and sighed, "Probably for the better though. They can become quite dangerous at times."
Ancro fidgeted. "If- if I may ask," he stuttered, "where are you going? And is the dragon truly a demon, a creature of darkness?"
Aza rolled her eyes. "It's a DAY-mon. Not a DEE-mon. There's a difference. But because she's tethered to me, and I'm a twilight-night elf-faerie, she is connected to my darkness."
The girl tried to pull him away, and this time he did not resist. They began to retreat into the woods whence they came.
Stella watched them head into the woods and ran her fingers through her hair, brushing it to the side, 'Shall we go?"
"Yep." Brushing her hand along the dragon's gleaming scales, she climbed aboard carefully.
Stella followed her, carefully getting on top and sat near the back gently grasping the gorgeous scales.
Serenade watched Stella board the daemon-dragon in disgust, repelled that anyone would just accept a demonic creature.
