"Gotcha." He began scanning the crowd, squinting. "Cin, maybe?"
"Gotcha." He began scanning the crowd, squinting. "Cin, maybe?"
"Her as well. However, Princess Isla has been eliminated. She is sitting near the judges' stands." Kiriti ran her hands over Rhydar's chest, scanning for injuries.
"Alright, thanks, Kiriti. Make sure Rhydar's alright." With that, he tossed the headset aside and made his way up the stands to Isla.
Isla was different from her younger siblings, with silky dirty blonde hair and bright hazel eyes, and she had a shorter stature than the rest of them, being only 5 foot 5. She was lazily sharpening her double-headed spear, the two halves split apart to make it easier. The seats around her were empty.
He sat down next to her, careful to avoid the spear. "Did we put on a good show?"
She flicked her eyes over to him. "You did better than my dimwit of a little brother."
"I mean, he did get me outta there." It was a weak attempt at defending him, but it was at least an attempt.
She rolled her eyes. "By using his untrained abilities. I mean, come on. He's nineteen thousand, seven hundred and sixty three years old! You'd think he'd be smarter than that. He put you in danger, then had to clean up his mess. Like always."
He shrugged. "I guess I'm more of an optimist." A little harsh, damn.
She shook her head. "Wulfric is smarter than that, and he's the baby of the family."
Once again, all Runner could do was shrug. "I had no clue it was like that, or I woulda just taken the hit."
She sighed. "Sorry. I'm just ranting. I've been gone for thirty years, and I guess I'm just disappointed he hasn't changed a bit. And that I lost my title as heir. Just now, actually."
"Oh, shit. I'm sorry." That probably helped jack shit, but what else could he have said?
She flapped her hand dismissively. "It's alright. At least I know it is going to someone more fit to be Queen than I."
"Still seems like a bummer." He wiped some of the water from his eyes, wishing it would dry quicker.
She raised a brow. "Moving on… Would you like to be less… Watery?"
He nodded, spraying a bit of water everywhere. "Yeah, that would be fun."
She chuckled and twirled her fingers, creating a gust of wind that dried Runner off instantly. "There."
He gave her a small smile. "Thanks, Isla."
She shrugged. "No problem."
He rubbed his hands together in anticipation. "Any clue when the next group goes out?"
She tilted her head, pressing her fingers to her temples. "With my superior and ultimate divinity… I say Cinthia and that kitsune."
The latter approached the maze, skittish and blindfolded. Cinthia was seen up in the stands, her mass of curly hair pulled back and out of her face.
"That's a pretty good guess." He watched the poor kitsune shuffle his way to the starting line, shaking his head in shame. "Did I look like that down there?"
"Nah. Kitsune are always skittish, and being directed by Cinthia has to be nerve-wracking for the poor thing." She looked to him. "You did pretty well, considering who your partner was."
"Ah, yes, nearly getting eaten alive by deadly devil fish was a good plan." He flashed a sarcastic grin before turning back to the maze.
