Mathew Lundell is a normal teenager from a normal family, seemingly very dull. The only thing extraordinary about him is skill at art. From a young age he´s been able to master any kid he wants; painting, sketching, photography, and whatever else he decides to learn. These extraordinary art skills have earned him the chance of a lifetime. Mathew has been invited to attend the prestigious Heaven´s Gate Academy, a prestigious high school for the richest, most talented kids in the country. He doesn´t even have to pay the outrageous tuition. Mathew sees this as the chance of a lifetime.

Upon entering the school, Mathew befriends 4 kids who have seemingly perfect lives. A musician, an athlete, a dancer, and a stock-trading entrepreneur. They all come from rich families and have lived life on a pedestal above that of any average person. He quickly learns the beauty, grace, and perfection of their lives is a facade. They all face problems graver than Mathew could ever imagine even crossing their minds. He too finds himself facing the horrors of their lives. As if life wasn´t already spiraling out of control, a wave of crime spreads across the school leaving students and staff alike shocked to the core. Lives are soon taken by the unknown criminals. Mathew and his friends are determined to finish their school year without them and all their friends dying, but that is easier said than done. They soon get in over their heads and will be lucky to survive, much less stop the crimes.
