King Lot is a remnant of an older, bloodier way of life in Westernesse. His alnd looks like it's been through battles— and won them all— when Arthur was still a child. He is not afraid to charge up on the battlefield with his men and has done it before. He is one of the few lords who has held onto his lands and his power during this period of turmoil.
King Lot clings to the old ways, brutal, untrustworthy of magic and very skeptical of Arthur's sudden appearance. Technically all members of the alliance against Arthur called the Eleven are all equals, but Lot is clearly the one in charge. Though even then, it seems his strings may be pulled by his wife, Morgause.
