Riker is a bit of a mystery, coming into the scene surrounding the elven aristocracy as an adult with little history. His family is well known, of course, and he has all the credentials to prove he went to a rather prestigious school. Most brush it off as simply him keeping under the radar until he was otherwise ready, and leave it at that.

He wormed his way into the royal court, romancing Muriel Santis when she came home to be with her father after he fell ill. Muriel leaned on Riker when her father passed, finding herself to be more in love with him as time went on and not questioning his position as advisor to her father or anything else.

An adventuring party looking to bring down The Sovereign Galen figured out that Riker was a lich controlling the princess through manipulative magics and that the man was serving the Sovereign Galen as one of his major heads. They broke the spellwork he had put over Muriel and presumably killed him at the time, including tracking down and destroying his phylactery. If that was really the end of him, however, remains to be seen.
