Thaerissa, known better as Thae, was born in a small, no-name town, and when she was young, her parents moved to Darvi, in order to be closer to the Sandersons, who were her cousin (Buck), aunt, and uncle. She grew up with Buck entertaining her and her younger brother Drewseph with stories, reading from the old storybook or maing up his own. She loved them all, especially the ones of the elementals. As she grew older, she loved to sneak around and dress up, changing her voice and tricking people into thinking she was someone else. Perhaps her greatest triumph at the time was when she convinced her aunt, Buck's mom, that she was her own mother, Sara Mercury, even holding an entire conversation. When Ravenna attacked, she and her family moved to Toathe, away from the capital. In Toathe, she met Leilson/Jasper for the second or third time, and he told her Buck had asked him to take care of/watch her. They grew to become good friends, and she has a bit of a crush on him.
