Roy was born in Fulgaria with an eldest sister named Vanessa and older brother named Renji. Their mother left Fulgaria and returned to Apollonia, taking Vanessa and Roy with her. A few years later, their mother dies from tuberculosis. From there, Vanessa takes care of both of them. To make money, she learned to make pottery and taught Roy to make pottery as well. There, Vanessa became friends with Sadia and taught them basic swordsmanship. When Roy turned 8, Elizabeth came to their village and kills Vanessa. For a month, Elizabeth rapes and tortures Roy for her own amusement. Roy developed Multiple Personality Disorder from this experience. Elizabeth eventually departs and Roy swears that he'll find her again and get revenge. When Sadia returned, Roy begs her to train him to get revenge. She very reluctantly agrees and trains him. At 16, Roy sets out to Crete to find Elizabeth and ends up joining the Hadean Organization.
