Ivan is calm and level-headed, always the first to suggest a solution even in the biggest crisis. He's also highly pragmatic, and has an eye for the tiniest details. Though he can be overly quiet sometimes, content to sit in comfortable silence, he's a fantastic listener. Any detail you tell him about yourself will never leave his steel trap of a memory.

Longsword

Ivan practices his magic every day, but he uses it more as meditation than combat practice. He's competent enough in a fight, but won't be fighting off whole hoards of enemies or anything.

The sword is mostly for emergencies. He does know how to hurt someone with it, though.
