Nef Artemel
Bard, adventurer, ghost-whisperer. Also, too dumb to live.
Human
Born and raised in Waterdeep.
Male
21-ish
His clothes are well-made and well-maintained, but simpler and more practical than you'd expect for a man of his breeding. Since he's styling himself an adventurer, he wants to dress the part, and this is the sort of thing his adventurer ghost uncles recommended.
Chaotic Chaotic
ADVENTURE
- Bardic magic
- Telling stories and managing crowds
- Can see and interact with ghosts
- Doesn't understand that "death" is a bad thing
- Dives headfirst into danger constantly
- Impulsive, unpredictable
- Willfully oblivious to anything he doesn't want to hear
- Either cannot or will not follow simple instructions
- Routinely pisses off the City Watch for fun
- No sense of subtlety or discretion - overshares by default, has to be explicitly told when something is a secret, and even then it's like 50/50 whether he'll let it slip accidentally
- Takes credit for shit he didn't do, deflects blame for shit he did do
- Wildly exaggerates the tales of his own exploits
Born into House Artemel, a Waterdhavian noble house of moderate wealth and influence. The Artemels are moneylenders for the upper crust. As the fourth son, Nef was very much "the spare."
His great-uncles - Bromus, Bromgus, and Brad - were adventurers. Nef, who's been able to talk to ghosts for most if not all of his life, used to hang out in the "Outdoor Salon" (actually the estate's private graveyard) and talk to his uncles' ghosts, letting them regale him with tales of adventure. Nef took these to heart and dreamed of becoming an adventurer himself one day.
At some point he became a bard, a career path his parents did not approve of. Then he became an adventurer, which they approved of even less. Nef has been avoiding his parents for the entire campaign.
