Other than the greens and browns of her ranger's uniforms, clothes on her days off are often relegated to comfy clothes that are easy to move in. She doesn't really "do" dresses, due to self-confidence issues.

Ginny affectionately refers to herself as a 'feral child' when it comes to her appearance. And while she can (and does!) clean up, her constant outdoor activities usually leaves her dirty and disheveled as a natural state of being. Her skin is usually coated in a very obvious farmer's tan, when it's not flat sunburnt anyway; she'll often pull stray twigs from her ponytail when she tries to take her hair down, and she likes to joke that fresh dirt and sweat are all part of her perfume.

She doesn't mind this, much; she gave up 'girly' things for this job years ago, and she can't regret a decision she made. A cushy office job with cute work outfits is not for her, though she can get jealous that other people can wear something other than the greens and browns of her ranger's uniforms.

Ginny is a bold girl. Growing up with three older, louder, rowdy brothers has made it so she's never shy. She's used to having to yell to get her voice heard, and knows how to get people's attention. Due to being bullied growing up, Ginny is a little insecure about herself, and always strives to be perfect in as many ways as she can. She loves to just kick back and have a good time, be silly and playful around friends, but can be serious when she must be.

When it comes to danger to the people or animals in her parks, she usually flies into a rage and does anything to protect the things she loves. She feels losses harder than she should, takes them personally, and can feel the guilt for a long time afterwards for not doing enough.

She's got a bit of a hypocritical, black and white view of society: she's open-minded and compassionate to people she knows and loves, but anyone she considers 'bad' or an 'enemy' she mentally shuts down and refuses to listen to anything they say.

Ginny is bisexual and has been with both men and women equally when it comes to bed partners.

Ginny is the type of girl to want and crave friendships and can be a social butterfly when she wants to be, but for the most part, she keeps to herself and is hesitant to divulge any personal information. She was bullied growing up for being too wild and a tomboy, so she is particularly sensitive to those who are deemed weak or different, and her temper can get violent when confronting them. Now that she's not a child she funnels all the things she wished she did to those 'Mean Girls' growing up into action for other people.

However she is also afraid to reach out to others to make deep emotional connections, worried about what they really think about her and scared that the friendship is a lie and she's going to get stabbed in the back once the joke of being friends with her gets too old to continue. As a result, she tends to keep herself isolated, and while she tells herself she prefers it that way, she is actually quite lonely.

Ginny has never had any serious, long term relationships mostly due to the above. She dated around in high school, lost her virginity at 17 due to a virginity pact in her cheerleading squad (Ginny thought it was dumb but didn't want to be the only one on the squad still a virgin and terrified they would find out if she lied), and has had a few flings in college and over the course of her career - isolation in wilderness means people tend to hook up to satisfy their needs, without many strings attached.

But she has never been in a serious committed relationship that she saw lasting more than a few months, and doesn't know whether she's ever been truly in love - she's too afraid of getting hurt to form deeper feelings than 'puppy love'.

Ginny is a HUGE horror buff - she loves any and all things horror. Movies, TV, comics, web comics, including any international varieties. Most of her downtime is spent finding new content and hanging out with other fans online.

Ginny is the youngest of four, and the only daughter. She has three older brothers, and yes, it was every bit what could be expected of having three older boys and then a girl. She grew up just outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is where her parents still reside.

She has been distant with her family since her turning, feigning being too remote and too busy to maintain the contact she used to.

Snow Haven, Alaska

Ginny had a rough time in school due to bullying, but ended up graduating with decent grades and attended college for fish and wildlife biology and management program.

Meet Ginny! She is a turned wolf shifter and a recent addition to Snow Haven as a Forest Ranger. She has only been a Shifter for the past two years, and until recently had no idea that she had become part of the supernatural underground, scared she had gone crazy. After getting some of the basics and some advice, she's come to Snow Haven to learn about what she is and hopefully build a new life in this safe haven.

From the time Ginny was old enough to walk, she wanted to be outdoors. She was the kind of kid who had to be locked into her room at night, childproof everything and turn the knobs around because if not, she would be out in the backyard climbing trees at 4 in the morning. The kind of kid who would dart away for her own adventures when someone looked away for 5 seconds.

It was to the point that exasperated parents assigned her brothers to accompany her - which only led the baby sister into more trouble, as 'accompany' meant 'tag along for anything and everything the boys did'. So Ginny not only got to develop her love for the outdoors, she became labeled as a tomboy as she shadowed one, two, three older brothers into all the mischief and mayhem young boys can cause. She was very close to her brothers, adored them, and saw absolutely no problem mimicking everything they did.

This earned her a reputation among local kids her age that would haunt her for the rest of her school years; Ginny was just being herself, but quickly became a bully target for boys who thought her weird and clingy, for girls who couldn't imagine why she would want to wrestle in the dirt. It escalated as mean kids grew into middle schoolers. She had to learn to fend for herself, because any time a brother stepped in, it got worse, being teased for not being able to fight her own fights. And talking with her fists was not an acceptable thing for girls to do, unlike boys.

So Ginny adapted. Grew a thicker skin, softened her wild ways while in school, made herself act more friendly, more outgoing, without being abrasive like she was used to doing with her brothers. She found a niche of friends outside school through nature programs her parents put her in during the summers and after school until winter, but she stopped spending time out of doors, stopped spending as much time with her brothers, and strived to make herself seem 'normal' in school. She dropped all her outdoor sports like soccer for the more 'girly' cheerleading; thanks to her natural athleticism and bold attitude, the weirdo feral girl had managed to turn herself into the cute blonde cheerleader by the time she entered her late high school years.

But Ginny wanted out. She longed for the summers she'd get with her friends in the nature programs, where she went from attending to volunteering. When she graduated high school, she immediately chose a school with a fish and wildlife biology and management program as close to Yellowstone National Park as she could get, abandoning anyone who would know the preppy blonde cheerleader to go back to the outdoorsy life she loved.

So maybe she should have expected what came next. It was only natural for a human with such a connection to the outdoors to end up being called by it. She hadn't been graduated from college with her degree more than six months, working as a junior ranger in Yellowstone, when a routine trail check threw her into the path of one of the wolves recently reintroduced back into the park. It amazed her, the way it sat down in her path patiently, like it was a dog.

Fascinated, against all training, Ginny approached it. Even went to pet it, which went against all rules and regulations! But she couldn't stop herself any more than the wolf could control the totem magic moving through it, calling the pair together. It bit her. And before she could react, she was eye level with the other wolf - as a wolf herself. She had been turned into a Shifter.

It took hours upon panicked hours before Ginny could get herself shifted back, now bearing her totem in her hand - a pendant of the tree of life. And she staggered back to base to find a search party had nearly been mounted for her. She'd been gone almost 24 hours without radio contact, nearly the time they would have mounted a search and rescue for her.

She told no one what had happened. That was the last thing she wanted, to go back to being thought of as a weird, crazy woman. And she didn't want to lose her job. She turned to the Internet, but legends of skinwalkers and shapeshifters did her little good when this was real life.

Nothing she had ever experienced remotely prepared her for this… she started to think maybe she really was crazy. She wouldn't shift again, though she itched to do so, and somehow innately knew how. The pendant scared her, but every time she made a move to throw it out or at least throw it into the back of her closet, she felt the strongest urge to hold onto it, and the next thing she knew she'd be wearing it around her neck.

For the following year Ginny suffered in silence, afraid to tell her family or coworkers for fear of being labeled crazy, and became withdrawn and quiet. It wasn't until a new transfer to their ranger unit took her aside a few months after being there that Ginny started to get answers. They whispered to her about what she was, what she was now a part of - the supernatural underground. Explained to her about her turning, and the Statute she was sworn to now, and had somehow intuitively knew to keep.

And told her if she wanted to find more help, she needed to look elsewhere. They told her of a gathering of creatures in a place called Snow Haven, Alaska. Who just so happened to have a shortage of forest rangers for the area, and a sheriff's department already stretched thin by low population and vast wilderness. Ginny put in a transfer in time for the Freeze season to begin, and has been in Snow Haven a few months, adjusting to the cold and the strange new environment.

Ginny is a turned Shifter, whose beast form is a Grey Wolf.

She was completely unaware of the supernatural underground prior to her turning. Her turning was done via a soul-bond with a wolf, too, so she was never given any instruction about the supernatural world she had been thrust into and, thanks to her isolated position at Yellowstone, thought she was alone and crazy for nearly a year until a supernatural creature joined the team and took her aside to explain a bit of what they knew.

Standard Shifter

Ginny has a stronger ability to commune with animals than an ordinary Shifter. She has found herself being able to understand (vaguely, since they are not considered sentient and therefore think/speak differently) what an animal tries to convey to her even while in Human form.

Ginny's beast form is a Grey Wolf, standard in size for a Shifter. She has no unique patterns or markings.

She is uneasy and uncomfortable in her wolf form, almost afraid of it thanks to her year+ in isolation after her turning, so she doesn't shift very often if at all if she can help it.

Her totem is a silver tree of life pendant that she wears - when she wears it - on a chain around her neck.

She is uneasy around her totem, but is unable to keep it far from her person - she doesn't often wear it but keeps it in a pocket or, most commonly, hanging off the rearview mirror of her truck. She isn't all that aware nor understands about Totem Possession, but she is careful and alert that no one tries to grab it from her, even though she's not wearing it actively.

Ginny was turned into a wolf shifter two years ago, and is still learning her way around being a Shifter and navigating the supernatural underground.
