(Yis, I’m here)
In my half asleep daze, I vaguely heard the boys talking. I turned over and made a small groan, indicating that I wanted them to shut up.
"Found out that demonesses are surprisingly flirty," he shrugged. "Other than that, I got," he searched through his pockets and pulled out two stones and a bouquet of flowers, "two sharp stones and a patch of katniss root."
Luke heard Maddie roll over and lowered his voice. "There's a demoness out there?"
"No," Crash grumbled from the back of the cave. "I told her to clear off."
"Ah. Then I won't worry about it for now. What does katniss root do?"
Nathan looked up. "If it's cooked right, it's food."
"All right then. Looks like we'll eat pretty good tonight."
Nathan chuckled and looked back at the deer. "You could say that."
Luke stood up gingerly, making sure he had his balance. "I'll admit I've never had to prepare raw meat. But I'll help if somebody shows me the ropes."
"Wait." Crash came over, grabbed the deer's leg, braced his foot against the carcass, and ripped the leg off. "This is mine. You guys can have the rest."
"Graphic, man," Luke said, wincing. "Shall we take this thing outside, Nate?"
Nathan punched the palm of his hand. "Let's do this, Luke." He grabbed the carcass by the neck and dragged it outside. He took a step back, hand on his chin. "What's the best way to approach this thing?"
"Hmm." Luke eyed the deer critically. "I guess we could cut off the head and feet, we don't need those. Then we could skin it and drain out the blood. I have a knife, but I gotta wash it first."
"There's a stream up the hill a bit," Crash called.
Nathan nodded slowly. "Let's keep everything, you never know. I agree with skinning it and draining it, though. We should strip off the sinew and cut some meat into strips to dry it out."
"All righty. Be right back." He jogged up to the stream, washed his hands and knife, and came back. "Dang, that water's cold. By the way…" he settled down and stared sawing away and the deer's neck. "…I just remembered our little promise to that shadow girl, Esme."
Nathan's face fell. "Oh god, you're right." He smacked his forehead. "It completely slipped my mind." He knelt down and started cutting away its hooves.
"Think she's gonna kill us if she manages to track us down? She didn't seem like the most forgiving person."
(I have to go by the way, so this is probably goodbye for the rest of the night)
(I have to too, goodnight!)
(Kay, seeya tomorrow ^^)
(I'll be on in like 40 minutes to check up, but I'll be slow to respond for a while after that)
(Okie dokie)
(Yo)
(Holla)
(Do you want to have Maddie wake up now, or shall she get more well-deserved rest? If I don't reply for an oddly long time don't worry btw, I swear I'm still around)
(Ok)
I woke up with a groan and aching muscles. The ground wasn’t quite comfy but at least I’d slept a little
You looked around and saw Crash flopped at the back of the cave in canine form, quietly gnawing on what looked like an entire raw deer leg. He wagged his tail at you, then went back to eating. Outside, you could hear Luke and Nathan's voices, but their conversation was too faint to make out.
I stood up and went outside to find the boys bickering about how they were going to cook the deer. I stayed back and leaned against a near by boulder and watched them.
After a minute, Luke glanced up and noticed you. "Oh, hey Mads. Sleep well?"
I shrugged, “As good as I can on the floor, I guess.” I walked over to the boys.
