He stumbled over to you. "Maddie, you've gotta help. They did something to me. I…I can't shift. I'm stuck like this–like a human." He was breathing heavily, his eyes darting around. You noticed that his ankle had a manacle on it, attached by a long chain to the wall.
“Can you remember anything?” I looked back over to the door then to Crash.
"Yeah, I went out hunting and caught a deer and when I came back everything was messed up and some of those shadow people were there and they musta d-done something…" he broke off, pacing restlessly. "I woke up here. I gotta get out." You managed to step back just before he flung himself at the cell door. The noise was terrific, but he wasn't strong enough to break it.
“Crash, listen to me. It’s gonna be ok.” I looked at the girl who luckily wasn’t listening, “I’ve contacted Luke and Nate, they’ll be here soon,” I shook my head. “Why would Blake put you in a cell and not me?”
Crash stared at you, trying with all his might to calm down. "Dunno. Why don't you ask that girl over there? She's been standing around laughing at me since I woke up." He growled deep in his throat. "I wanna kill her."
“Well, don’t. I’ll go talk to Blake, ok?”
His eyes widened. "No, don't leave. Please."
From the end of the hall came the girl's bored voice. "Are you done yet? Maybe I should just knock him out again so we can have some quiet."
Crash leaned against the bars. "Let me out!" he yelled at her. "Give me back my powers!"
"Um, how about no," she replied with a smirk.
“It’s only going to get worse if you piss him off alright!” I called to the girl and shook my head. “I can’t stay forever Crash, I’ll talk to Blake and come right back, ok?”
He slumped down against the door, his head dropping into his hands. "Hurry."
I got up and walked out of the place. I memorised all the corridors on the way down so it took me no time to find Bake’s office. I pushed open both the doors and found him at his desk. “Why is Crash locked up in a cell?!”
He blinked in surprise. "Maddie? What are you doing up at this hour?" He discreetly changed the scene in the window from a sunlit beach to a moonlit cityscape and yawned.
“Just answer the damn question Blake!” I had to keep my anger under control but I knew that wasn’t going to happen.
"Ah yes, the demon…" he went back to writing. "So sorry if his predicament upsets you, but I'm afraid it's unavoidable, at least until I have time to deal with him. Demons, I'm afraid, are inherently violent creatures, and cannot be reasoned with. I took away his ability to shift for the moment because he was so agitated I was afraid he was going to hurt himself. Don't worry, I'll see that he's made more comfortable very soon."
“He’s agitated beacuse you took away his power! He is only violent beacuse you did that!”
"Untrue. You didn't see him when he realized you were missing." Blake set down his pen and gave you a resigned look. "What would you have me do? If I return his powers or let him out of his cell, he'll destroy this entire building. I can't allow that. You may feel free to spend the night with him, if you wish, although I doubt you'll find it very comfortable."
“Why don’t you just let him go?”
"Because I still need him. His aura is essential for my plans, and I can't let him go until I have it. In his excited state, extraction of the necessary energy may take up to a week. You would be doing us all a service if you could convince him to settle down and accept his situation."
(I have to go in a minute, I'll be back in an hour or two)
(Ok, I might not be here when you get back beacuse I have to go out later today as well)
I sighed. “I can’t do that.”
(Okay ^^)
"Then I'm afraid he is going to remain as confused and afraid as he is now." Blake returned to his papers, indicating the finality of his statement. "I suggest you return to bed now. I have plenty of work to do."
(Awright brb seeya later)
(I'm back, is anyone here by chance?)
(Oh, okay. Does Maddie have anything important to say, or might we duck back to Nathan for a sec and get him caught up?)
