Andion sighed, “It’s Possible, and… other things.” She said, not turning to look at Cally.
Andion sighed, “It’s Possible, and… other things.” She said, not turning to look at Cally.
"Do you think you don't deserve it?" Cally asked, taking a step closer to her.
“I’m a witch, I don’t deserve anything nice.” Andion replied, watching the rain fall.
"And I'm human. Have you seen the things we do?" Cally laughed awkwardly. "We call everyone else monsters because we're too far gone to admit that we're the real ones. The only real difference between witches and humans is that witches have magic, and humans are insanity personified."
“You’ve heard the stories of what we’ve done. Humans aren’t insane, it’s us.” Andion sighed.
"And who told you that?" Cally asked, crossing her arms. "Who convinced you that you were horrible just for existing?"
“I’ve lived for two centuries, I’ve seen enough for a lifetime, witnessed it first hand. I wasn’t convinced by anyone but myself.” She replied.
She threw her arms into the air, annoyed. "I don't think you're a bad person, though! Yes, other people, other witches and humans, can be downright crappy and murderous and horrible. That doesn't mean that you are, and that doesn't mean that you aren't allowed to enjoy yourself or love yourself or accept compliments from a girl you met in the woods."
“I see myself as a bad person! I have done things I regret because all my horrible life I’ve followed orders, killed countless people. That’s why I can’t take compliments, that’s why I can’t enjoy myself because I’ve never had the pleasure of doing what I want. Stay in line Andion. Do what your queen says Andion. I cant enjoy life anymore!” She snapped, hanging her head.
"So leave!" Cally almost yelled back. "Leave your life if you hate it. Find a new one- make yourself a new one. Do what I did and leave the city, leave your home, and run until you find something worth stopping for."
“I’m bound to this city, to my Queen! If I leave I’m signing my death warrant. It’s not as simple as packing a bag and leaving. It’s finding someone to fill my position in the castle and making sure that I’m far enough away in time so when my Queen finds out, she won’t be able to kill me!”
"So where were you when you found me? That wasn't in the city! Just get out the way you did before, and run for the nearest village. You can disguise yourself as a human or something to stop them from finding you. And how hard can it be to find someone who looks like you? Just call up a friend or something and get them to cover for you."
“It’s every witch for herself here.” Andion said with leathal calm, “They wouldn’t cover for me.”
"Well that's screwed up." Cally muttered. "I would cover for you,"
“What?” Andirons gaze flicked to Cally before she shook her head, “Actually it doesn’t matter.”
"I said 'I would cover for you.'" Cally said, giving Andion a look. "When you're not snapping at me, I think you're actually a pretty nice person. I'd cover for you if it meant you got a shot at happiness."
“You don’t mean that, surely. You’d give a witch a shot at happiness?” Andion was confused, why would she do that?
Cally offered her a small smile. "You saved my life. Of course I would."
Andion turned around and lent against the shelf behind her so she could look at Cally, the corner of her mouth tugged up into a slight smile, “You still need rest,” She jerked her head towards the couch, “don’t waste your strength standing.”
Cally grinned. "Aw, you care about me!" She teased, flopping back onto the couch. Most of the pain from her body was gone, and all that was left was a dull ache.
Andion rolled her eyes, “No…” She paused before muttering, “Maybe a little but that’s not the point. Once you’re fully rested I can take you to the border.” She walked over to her chair in front of Cally and sat down.
Cally let the smug expression remain on her face. "I think I'm starting to grow on you," she said, smirking.
“What… no.” She muttered even though what Cally said was true to a certain degree.
Cally's grin widened, but she kept her mouth closed. Finally after a moment, she broke the silence. "So, what do you do for fun around here?"
Andion shrugged, “I’m on duty a lot but I read, shop, practise my magic.” She said, “What do humans do for fun?”
