Gus wasn't too sure what all the fuss was about, but he nodded reassuringly all the same. "I'll keep quiet, don't you worry. I reckon she wouldn't be mad, though. She's used t' doin' this all by herself y'know." He held up a packet of screws he'd found with his toolbox. "Wanna help me add real hinges to this trap door?"
June put her arms around Gus and Jasper, “not trying to butt in, but are we almost done securing the place, it is getting pretty late. And I don’t want to have’ta make any last minute adjustment ya know”.
Darius smiles, filled with a bit of self pride, he quickly pulled out his notebook and wrote the latest events down.
she nodded, "tha-" she jumped slightly when june put her arms around them, "y-yeah…w-we are.."
June smiled at Jasper, "great, now best bud, you got any chocolate left? My weakness calls to me" she said dramatically.
she shook her head, "no.."
"ah well, guess I will just have to rob a candy factory for us" she smiled and let go of Jasper. "well Imma go take a peek on the roof, see if I can see Jez anywhere"
she nodded, "oky…be safe.."
"Mind the back door stays locked goin' in and out," Gus called. "An' don't get snuck up on. Gimme a holler if you do see Jez….I gotta say I'm startin' to wonder where he got to." This was and understatement. Gus was worried by now. He almost wanted to grab his rifle and go out looking for Jez himself, but he'd been taught that one missing person was better than two. Besides, he now felt he should stay and help June keep an eye on Darius and Jasper.
"I reckon we're about done here," he said to them, lightly kicking the trap door to make sure it was sturdy. "Either of you two still hungry? I might have myself a little snack before I hit th' hay."
June nodded before giving Darius a pat on the shoulder and heading up to the roof, she kept the door open by placing her sword on the ground keeping it ajar so that she could hear if anything happened inside. She walked around the roof, looking around half tempted to yell for Jez, but thought better of it. She was however getting quite bored of this, hiding and whatnot, she was the kind of person who wanted to face the creepers dead on. She lived for the thrill of it.
Darius simply shook his head when asked if he was hungry. He was not started to forget things and had a frustrated look upon his face.
Gus noticed Darius's expression as he went to find some food in the snacks aisle. "What's up, Shadow?" he inquired, blurting out the nickname on the spot. "You look like you've got somethin' on your mind."
Jas shrugged at the question. "I'm not sure.." he then noticed Darius, looking back and forth between the two.
Darius blinked, “huh? Oh just, trying to focus..” he said absently and waved off the question.
Gus found some not-yet-spoiled snacks for himself and Jasper and ambled back over to them. "Well I'll let you focus then. Here Jasper, jus' in case you want it." Sitting down on the step stool, he munched peaceably on his food, feeling the satisfied tiredness that comes after a good day's work. "Well, th' staff room's a little cramped fer all of us t' sleep in, unless those shelves are sturdy enough t' be bunk beds. Wanna root up some blankets and find out?"
She took what food he was offering and decided to have herself eat, even though she didn't mind being hungry she didn't mind eating either. She needed to gain more weight. "I'm small and I don't weigh a lot, I could probably sleep on one of the shelves without it breaking.." Jasper baby your underweight by a good 20 pounds, of course it won't break your light as a feather.
"Let's make you a bed up there then," Gus said, rising and taking the step stool back with him to the staff room. "We can use this t' help you climb up. somewhere 'round here I think a saw….bingo." He opened a box of items for the store and found a stack of cheap fleece blankets. They weren't much on their own, but in layers they were incredibly soft and warm. "A few under 'n a few over, and I reckon you'll have a pretty comfy night, Jasper." He glanced over his shoulder at Darius. "You still tryin' to focus, Shadow? C'mon and do it over here, we need t' make a bed fer you too."
(sorry I havent been active, but like Write hasnt been active and Elodie is asleep, so I dont really know what to do with her.)
Darius shook his head and walked over to them, "I am not going to sleep though" he shrugged, not sure why he would need a bed if he wasn't going to sleep.
Gus blinked. "You ain't goin' to sleep? Well how come?" It was getting late, and personally, Gus was pretty tired. He couldn't think of any good reasons to stay awake, and Darius was surely as worn-out as he was.
(sorry I havent been active, but like Write hasnt been active and Elodie is asleep, so I dont really know what to do with her.)
(It's ok! Hopefully Write's doing alright, but in the meantime no worries!)
"uh- I don't want to wake up….like I can't stay focused when I sleep, so I will probably forget you guys" He said, trying to hide how obviously tired he was.
She nodded, moving to follow Gus as he went and prepared it, she waited though. Still unsure if she should get on the shelf or not as she observed the conversation.
(in the meantime should I have Elodie wake up and go looking for Jesse, where she stumbles; literally, into Gus and the others?)
(Ooh that would be a good way for them to meet)
(I'm fine with that! ^^)
Gus gazed at Darius with a frown, moving slightly so Jasper would have room by the shelf. "Well now….I understand that y'don't want t' forget us but….well I mean you gotta sleep too." He tried to think of some kind of compromise. "I hope you know we don't mind at all if we hafta remind you of a couple things when you wake up again. And ain't that what your journal's for? You can write everything down in that, yeah?"
Elodie got up, rubbing her eyes, then hobbled outside, where she saw a building with sheets over the windows, and a person on the roof.
She hobbled closer and waved her arms in the air crazily, to get the person's attention.
"Hey!" she whispered loudly.
She kept doing this, until the person would give their attention to her.
