@Tired-but-passionate
(He big brain elf. He has all the brain cells :0)
(He big brain elf. He has all the brain cells :0)
(Arcturus stole all the brain cells ;-;)
( XD so now I've got the image of Arcturus actually reading the picture book to the others, all of them clustered around, looking over his shoulders )
(LOL yeah definitely.)
(facepalm How did he become the group dad???)
(By being the elf with le brain cells)
(Yesssss true found family at its finest)
(but he can be so suspicious and bull headed sometimes! That's not dad material!)
(Better than Bane’s papa 💀)
(Arcturus has now gained like five-ish children lol)
( oh my word XD )
(Better than Bane’s papa 💀)
(Better than Nix’s dad 💀)
(Daddy issues everywhere :X )
(I mean- Sutechi dosent technically have daddy issues unless you count not seeing his dad for around 12 ish years against his will-)
(oof… ish?)
(Arcturus doesn't either per se. Elvish family dynamics are just a little weird)
(Can't have daddy issues if you never knew your daddy XD {jk I know that's not true but just roll with it} anyways, Leila might be the luckiest one out of all them. She never knew her parents, so she can't exactly have parental issues.)
(well. We're a messy group 😂)
(Yeah, lol.)
Leila looks around at the group, now awake.
"Breakfast will be here in a bit."
Bane had been staring into space, wondering what how his life was going to change and why the heavens had mercy on him. Arcturus had put himself in a deep sleep, but Bane, didn’t have to sleep. If he tried, he would end up staying awake. If you really wanted to make a hellhound sleep, you’d have to knock them in the back of the head. Problem solved. But when Leila woke, Bane snapped out of his little trance, shaking his head and looking at the girl. Bane tilted his head, confused by her words. “Breakfast?” Did this hellhound seriously not know what breakfast was? He did, but it was just called something different: Ientaculum. Bane didn’t take in account how hungry he’d been. His stomach growled, but his kind didn’t need to eat so often. It was almost like a suggestion rather than a necessity. He looked around at the others to see nothings changed in the last hour. His thoughts had been particularly loud, reminding him of events prior to arriving in prison and, eventually, here. He didn’t really want to talk about it, much less think about it. “What are we going to do here?” Bane croaked, unsure of what this location was or resided. “It’s not like a headquarters or anything— is it?” He raised an eyebrow, expecting a least a slight answer. It would satisfy his qualms.
"You're going to stay for a bit and lay low. You can leave if you'd like, but I wouldn't advise it. Once you leave, you can't come back." Leila murmurs.
Arcturus came out of meditation, snapping awake like he'd never been asleep.
"Why are we laying low, Leila?" He asked gently, and locked eyes with her. "Why shouldn't we leave?"
"Many reasons. The first of which is you'll die if you leave this library. Another reason is that the only two-way door in and out of this place was destroyed, meaning that if you do somehow manage to survive what's lurking outside in the old castle jail, I can't guarantee that I can reopen the portal. The third - and probably the most important - reason is that the thing that killed Sardoth, who destroyed the Isles with one swing of his sword, who was nearly a living god, is waiting for the rest of you." Leila replies bluntly.
Ah. There it is. Everything clicked into place as Leila spoke. If there was ever a reason for Orome the Huntsman to speak to Arcturus, this was it.
And he had told the Elf to stay. To help however he could.
So Arcturus didn't flinch. He just took a deep breath and kept his eyes focused on Leila.
"Can you describe that danger?"
Bane stared at Leila. One emotion consumed his face and thoughts. Suspicion. He furrowed his brow, nose twitching. None of this made sense. “You’re contradicting yourself. You said you couldn’t keep us here.” He paused, playing with an umbra dagger as he kept merciless eye contact. “But now we can’t let us walk out of here. Were you going to throw us to the wolves before? And now you’ve changed your mind.” A wide grinned crossed his face. “Or is it because you’re harboring dangerous creatures—criminals at best.” Bane was semi-certain he could teleport out. After all, how hard could it be? But at the same time, he didn’t want to be the creature of death that became food for something— more powerful than him.
"I can't. You are creatures of intelligence, of will. All I can do is give advice that you won't take seriously because I'm too young." Leila growls at Bane before turning back to Arcturus.
"Have you ever heard of Joth's Tale?" she ask him.
