Robin nodded and held his breath, staring fearfully out into the darkness outside the cave.
Robin nodded and held his breath, staring fearfully out into the darkness outside the cave.
"Its… Its just killing." Hazel said in disbelief.
"I've never met s-such a cruel creature…" Robin whispered. The fact that he loved animals so much made this experience so much worse. "D-do you think this is the evil the animals were talking about?" He was trembling slightly, unable to see whatever was causing this destruction.
"No." Hazel whispered. "It's a mist. It's… it's like an evil soul without a body. Like the IT from a wrinkle in time."
Robin whimpered before falling silent, holding onto Hazel for dear life. He had no idea what would happen if they died here, since he wasn't completely sure whether this place even existed.
"Robin I think I should take the ring off." Hazel said, her voice shaking.
He nodded shakily. "W-we… we can come back another time?"
Hazel thought it over. Maybe they shouldn't come back. Maybe… Suddenly the ground began to shake. The small hole started to get really hot. Hazel gripped Robin tightly, and the ground split. "Not again!" she yelled, and they fell into the depths of the earth.
For the second time.
Robin screamed, the sensation of falling muddling all his senses and emotions except fear. It was the one thing that filled him with terror at this moment, the creature forgotten temporarily.
Hazel heard Robin scream, and she pulled him to her. "Hhhhhhaaaaaannnnggggg ooooonnnnn tooooo meeeeeee!" she screamed.
Robin was doing everything in his power to not have a panic attack as he clung to Hazel, hyperventilating like the first time. The ground in this place seemed very unstable…
Suddenly they hit water. Hazel and Robin plunged deep down, bubbles all around them. Hazel started to panic; she was suffocating. But when she opened her mouth… she could breath. "Robin!" she screamed.
Robin seemed to be unconscious from the impact on the water, sinking down but still breathing somehow. A stream of bubbles floated from his mouth.
Hazel grabbed Robin and shook him. They were still sinking, but they could breath, and that was all that mattered. "Robin wake up!" Hazel screamed.
"Mmm……" Robin groaned and slowly opened his eyes and looked around, immediately beginning to panic when he realized that they were underwater.
"Robin calm down its okay…" Hazel soothed, pulling him to her and rubbing his hair.
"We're underwater! H-how are you okay with this?! How am I breathing?!" His heart felt like it would burst through his chest as he turned his head frantically in every direction, looking for a way to escape.
"Robin we can breath, thats all that matters. Calm down." she was saying frantically.
Robin clung to Hazel, trying to relax. "How… h-how are we supposed to get out of here? How deep are we?"
"I'm not sure. But we're still sinking. I can't see the top anymore…" Hazel trailed off. Then suddenly, her feet brushed something… soft? She felt it with her hands. It was grass! A breeze came through, making it move slightly. A breeze in the water? Sunlight filtered through, lighting up the area around them. Hazel blinked really hard, really confused. When she opened her eyes, no water surrounded them. Just grass, and animals, and the sun and sky. What…
"W-what? What happened? Where… where did the water go?" Robin looked around himself again, scared and confused. "Is this w-where we were before?"
"No. Its neither of the fields. What is it with this place and fields…"
"A-and the ground collapsing…" Seeing the animals made him relax a bit, but he didn't know whether they were friendly or not.
"This is crazy…" Hazel murmured. Just then a sheep trotted over, and looked them up and down.
Robin froze a bit, not sure what he could trust anymore. The sheep stood calmly and quietly, as though waiting for something.
