Rivian's eyes narrowed at the bloke, he'd seen him somewhere before. "You're a royal pain in my ass."
He had no intention of humoring the other man. He removed his glasses, staring the other square in the eyes, his own glowing brightly.
"I don't care who you are or what house you come from, Verrian, you do not have the right to give orders to another."
Arie's interest peaked: had she heard the name Varrian?
Calla nodded at Rivian's request to take her home and looked around the area a bit. "Thank you for the offer."
Arie stood up. Adjusting her veil to better protect her, she started walking towards the group, petticoats swishing around her thighs.
"Jeez, I just wanted to help. You burnt asshole." Verrian muttered as he walked off, still leaving the other umbrella, just as a passive aggressive reminder.
Arie stopped when she saw Verrian walking away. Perhaps there would be no fight today. Sighing, she walked over to the ones left behind.
"Until I see the burns, I'm fine." Rivian muttered to himself, watching Verrian walk away. Then he sensed someone behind him. Not another one..
He turned to find another young girl, she'd been a vampire for quite some time.
"Hello Miss Arie, to what do we owe the pleasure of your company?"
"Why, I was just coming to see if this youngling needed any help. After all, having two big, strong vampires arguing in front of you can be a bit… intimidating." Sweet venom dripped from her words. It was obvious that she had wanted to see a real fight.
"Arie I don't have time for your poison." Rivian was starting to lose his composure as he hissed at the girl. "You should know that I do not fight, not anymore."
"I know. But you used to be so good at it." Arie reached into her shoulder bag and pulled out a hoodie.
"Perhaps you'll accept help from me if you will not from Verrian."
Ben walked down to the sidewalk and noticed two people seemingly fighting. He sighed and started walking over to where they all were.
Rivian had always had a soft spot for Arie, she had been there for as long as he could remember, and he found it hard to say no to her.
"Fine." He sighed. "I can't help it that I don't like that peacock."
"Hardly anyone can blame you. Still, he is a formidable being." Arie sighed.
"I remember a time when you would have tried to cut him down where he stood. I'm glad you've gotten over your temper." Arie heard something. Turning, she saw someone walking towards their group.
"Perhaps it is best to leave."
"Believe me, I still want to see him bleed at my feet. But a lady shouldn't witness such a scene." He looked up, spotting the same figure as Arie. "Agreed, my car is here anyway. Would you care for a ride, Arie? I'm dropping this little fledgling home in the process."
Arie laughed.
"Perhaps you have not changed so must after all. Yes, I would love a ride home. I'm sure you still know where it is."
"How could I forget? You'd never let me hear the end of it if I did." He rolled his eyes, striding over to his car and opening one of the back doors. "Ladies first."
As the sunlight hit his face, he winced a little, but kept a calm composure.
Calla got into the car and sat down without a word. She had no clue what these two's relationship with each other was or how and how long they knew each other.
Arie gracefully sat down in the car.
"You're such a gentle man." Arie put emphasis on man.
"Of course I'm a man, my lady, what else would I be?"
Despite having known Arie for quite some time, the only thing he never quite understood was her humor. But then again, she was a lot younger than him, so it was probably humor that he was yet to learn. He closed the door and got into the driver's seat. The blackout window in front of him felt like painkillers to a headache.
"Where is that I am taking you little one?" He asked the newly turned girl. He had completely forgotten to ask for her name!
"Perhaps a creature of the night?" Arie giggled. She knew Rivian did not understand her humor, and she was always cracking jokes around him.
Ben saw them all get into the car then he kept walking down the street. He held up his umbrella and looked through his sunglasses. Thinking only of getting home and relaxing with his cat.
"Perhaps, before you take me home, we could stop for something to eat? It's been a while since I've eaten."
(Oh dear, I do love making m characters assholes.)
(I wish I could pull that off like you)
