A Fox’s Lament

It’s been long since last I saw you,
Knowing well yet not believing it’s true.
That fate has separated us, me and you.

There are only scars that will remain.
Within a man who’s barely sane.
Loving all the memories to keep me from such pain.

Taking all the little things back to me
And the collage of our memories,
To arrange them like they used to be.

To remind myself that you’re here,
To lie to myself that you’re near,
Even though I know that’s just my own fear.

Every distant path I take I know you’ll watch me from where you are,
You make me feel alright on the days that left me scarred.
It’s like you’re here by my side, even if we are so far,
But just sensing you, I feel your warmth.

And even if you’re not in my life, you’ll forever be in my heart
You are the reason I’m still alive and the reason I came this far.
Whenever we meet again, I’ll say to you I’ve been fine.
I’ll laugh the pain away so I… could see you smile.

Time doesn’t seem to move at all,
Ever since I have taken that fall,
And it seems you can’t hear my calls.

But at least I’ve got this time to see,
All the things we did when you were with me,
All the happy memories, that I could never reach.

(I’m honestly not surprised that no one got anything for the last one. It’s pretty hard ‘cause not a lot of information was put in there.)

(Here’s a new one, and I’m sorry if a lot of these are poems rather than short stories, I find myself being more comfortable telling ‘stories’ this way. This one is… quite easy, in my opinion. There’s really only one character in this one)

Ignition starts with hope deep inside
A lot of time, yet nowhere to hide

The flames ignite, burning all our dreams
An image so surreal I can’t keep
Reality is so absurd
Why must I endure such hurt
What’s left of yourself, is a pile of ash

What is left behind of a puppet’s mask…?

Hinata would find herself in an unconscious state only to be awakened again inside what looked like a hospital room. The wallpaper was white as well as most of the furniture within the room. A figure sat at the edge of the bed, seemingly asleep. There was no mistake, that had been Matthew, the Nature Knight.

Adara was pulled away from the wicked Knight yet her vision was to go ever so blurry after said encounter. What happened after wasn’t a clear image. She would be present again inside a warm room with some soft music playing. It was coming from the radio on the bedside table.
No one was in the room. No one was there near her. Though that might’ve been for the best.

Kye was knocked unconscious, his body was placed in some sort of weird chamber. Rocks, crystals, and several jewelry were scattered on the floor and some were growing from the wet stone walls and ceiling. It looked like a mineshaft or perhaps an underground cave system.

Jade would eventually come to the exit of the maze. The outside had a misty atmosphere accompanied by grayish clouds. What looked to be a former paradise was present in front of her though now, it had been a broken dream. Only the essence of said paradise remained. The town looked gloomy, it lacked emotion and energy. But there wasn’t anywhere else to go now…

"Stupid Knight," Ada grumbled, trying her best to pull herself to a sitting position… although with her head hurting like this, she regretted it. The slightest movement sent pounding waves of pain through her, like little men were taking hammers to the inside of her skull and seeing how long it took before her brain leeked out.
She gave a wry smile at that thought, and pushed through the pain. Her vision wavered slightly, but when she sat up and looked around her, it seemed to be fine. She made a face at the environment around her. "Who is there?" She called. "And why am I in your weird room?"
It was nice, though, not having to worry about being under attack, or having to defend herself… right? Like that Knight. If she ever saw him again, she would make sure they parted with him headless.

The door to the room Adara was in was slowly opened from the outside. A figure she would most likely recognize for his signature fox mask tied to his waist and his blue sadistic eyes came into the room. However, his eyes showed sympathy this time around.
”Hey,” he said softly, closing the door behind him as he looked at Adara’s form.
