"What?" he asked, challengingly, smirking back

¨Nothing nothing¨ she said with a smile.

"Vanessa…tell me.." he said, drawing his response "you know I hate it when you do this, tell me."

¨I told you nothing everything is just fine¨ she said and kissed his head.

Jay got to his car and unlocked it and opened the gas cap to pour the gas in.

Kate noticed Jay down the street. Her eyes widened in fear. If matt saw him, he would beat him up for sure. She had to think of a way to distract him until Jay was gone. "Matt!" she said suddenly.
Matt turned around, and before he could respond, she kissed him. Hurry, Jay! she mentally pleaded.

Jay turned and saw Kate kissing Matt. Then finished putting gas in his car and got in. When he was in the car he put the gas can in the back and sat low in the seat to hide.

Kate pulled away once Jay was out of sight.
Matt grinned. "Do you want to go to the hospital now?"
"Yes," she replied, forcing a believable smile on his face.
They got in the car and he drove off. As they passed by Jay's car, she peered through the windows, but couldn't see him. Hopefully, he hadn't seen the kiss.

Jay sighed. He just saw Kate kissing Matt, which was awkward and probably something he shouldn't have seen. He sat up after a minute and started his car. Soon enough he drove off.

The moment they entered the hospital, Kate sprinted to the room and was by her mother's side quickly. "Did she wake up?" she asked the nurse on duty.
"She didn't. Sorry, honey."

Jay got home and realized his dad was home. He sighed and got out of his car and opened the door.

"So where is it?"

"I don't have it dad." Jay said and pushed past him and ran up to his room. He shut the door of his room once in there.

Kate's shoulders slumped. She took Maria's hand and began to talk about what had happened.

Jay flopped down on his bed and closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Matt walked in and Kate stopped talking quickly.
"Hey, uh, about what happened back there," she began.
"No, it's… it's fine. Good– Great actually," he stammered. "Unexpected, but nice."
"Oh," she replied, trying to hide her shock. "Um… good, then. I guess."
He nodded sheepishly.

Jay slept for awhile on and off not seeming to be able to keep asleep.

"Is your dad coming?" she asked, trying to change topics. She wanted to ignore the fact that they kissed. Rather, she kissed him.
"Yeah, I was just coming here to let you know I'll be in the waiting room until he gets here," Matt replied.
"Oh, okay. Then you'll come back here?"
"Yup. If that's cool."
"Yeah, yeah. No problem," she said, nodding for good measure.
"Okay, so, see you soon?"
She nodded again. "See you."
He left and Kate looked back at Maria. "I kissed him, Mom. But it was only to keep Jay from being seen, so please don't get mad at me…"

Jay got up after awhile and left his room he went to walk down the stairs but tripped. He sat at the bottom of the stairs and noticed immense pain in his leg. He pushed himself up and put that leg down immediately he had to take it off the ground. Slowly he hopped the get his keys and put shoes on.he hopped out of the house in sweatpants and a tee shirt then got in his car and went to the hospital. He waited in the ER for awhile then was x-rayed. His leg was fractured. Later they told him his ribs were bruised as they were looking him over. The doctor told him he would have to stay for 24 hours and get a cast so they got him in a wheelchair and brought him to a boring room. He sat in the bed bored.

Kate heard a commotion outside the room. "I'll be right back," she told Maria and went over into the next room. "Jay?!" she cried out in shock. "What are you doing here?"

"oh heyyyyyy Kate." He said in a Fake excited voice.

She sensed his false enthusiasm. "What's wrong? Why are you here?" she asked.

"my leg is broken….." He said slowly. "Oh also, I didn't know until a bit ago but you are way better at punching than u thought a few hours ago."

"What do you mean?" she asked worriedly.

"you may have bruised a few of my ribs. But I'm ok." He told her. "And I fractured my leg both jumping out your window probably and falling down some stairs."

"I… I'm sorry," she whispered.

"it's ok. Like I said I'm fine. And I don't think I am dead yet. also if your boyfriend comes in I hope he wouldn't beat up a person in a hospital bed." Jay joked.

Kate blinked and wrinkled her eyebrows. "Boyfriend? What are you talking about?"

"your little kissing session in the car with Matt." Jay explained.
