He shook his head "yes you are."
He shook his head "yes you are."
Vanessa raised her eyebrow with a smirk.
"What?" he asked, challengingly, smirking back
"What the hell is the big thing about this file. Like that is the big deal ab-" he stopped mid sentence because his phone was ringing. He put up a finger to wait.
"Hello?" Jay asked then realized it was his dad. "Oh heyyyyyy dad. Yeah I um got a file." He sighed. "Yes it is the one that you asked for. I will be dropping it off in a hour or so." He waited a second as his dad talked. "No I haven't been caught." He sighed and listened to his dad's fundamentals of breaking and entering.
Kate arched her eyebrows, listening to his side of the conversation.
"Dad, I have to go. I will get it to you later." he said then hung up. "Sorry about that." he said meaning he was sorry he got a call. "So…."
"Drop it," she commanded, pointing her gun at him. "Now."
"What?" he asked, challengingly, smirking back
¨Nothing nothing¨ she said with a smile.
"Drop it," she commanded, pointing her gun at him. "Now."
"Drop the file?" He asked. He didn't understand why it was so important, though he didn't even know what was on it.
"Drop it," she commanded, pointing her gun at him. "Now."
"Drop the file?" He asked. He didn't understand why it was so important, though he didn't even know what was on it.
"What else would I be asking you to drop?" she asked annoyedly. "Matt's in that house right now, and I don't think you'd like to cross paths with him again. Drop the file and I'll let you go, I promise."
"Alright, but I would need you to keep him distracted for at least 15 minutes. I didn't drive here…." He said then put down the file.
As he put down the file, she lowered her gun until she was aiming at the ground. "What do you need me to?"
"I need you to keep him distracted for a little while. I have to walk to my car that is down the street a bit and it will take like 15 minutes. you can let him go in 15 minutes. I'll keep my head down when I walk home. I just need 15 minutes." Jay said.
"15 minutes, got it. Wait," she cut into her own sentence. "He's coming here?"
"No, you just said Matt was in there. Just distract him while I walk away." Jay responded.
"Okay, I will. Hurry," she urged. She picked up the file and nodded for him to go.
Jay ran off to his car which took about 10 minutes. Quickly he changed into his regular clothes and hid the clothes he was just wearing somewhere in the car.
Kate sprinted back into the house through the back door and found Matt in the living room.
"Matt," she gasped.
He turned to face her and rushed over. "Kate?!" He grabbed her shoulders. "Kate, what happened?"
Jay put his hood on and locked his car. He hopped it didn't look suspicious or was ticketed. Then he walked to his house that was a bit far from where he was.
"I couldn't see who it was, but they were after the file."
"Did you get it?" he asked worriedly.
"Yes," she replied breathlessly, holding it up for him to see.
"Are you hurt?"
"No, I'm fine."
Matt pulled her into a tight hug. "I don't know what I would do if you got hurt out there."
Kate subtly checked her watch. 15 minutes were up. Godspeed, Jay…
Jay continued to walk down the street. He kept his head down towards the sidewalk. He hoped to not attract much attention.
"Can we go back to the hospital now, please?" she asked.
"Of course," Matt replied, reluctantly letting her go.
Jay decided to walk to a store and bought some gas. it seemed to be enough. He walked back to his car probably looking shady holding a thing of gasoline.
Kate followed Matt to his car.
(Is Jay within, like, seeing-distance of them? That's phrased really badly… Can they see Jay from where they are?)
(Maybe he is like a few blocks down the street. not too far from the hospital. a bit after he left he ran out of gas.)
Jay got to his car and unlocked it and opened the gas cap to pour the gas in.
(But would they see him? If they were walking to the car would they see them?)
