"Okay, okay," Kaz chuckled. Luckily the line was short, so they got their food relatively quickly. He went to sit at a table off to the side, empty and away from the general group of people. He smiled at Vaughn, waiting for him to sit down before beginning to eat
Vaughn slid into a seat across from Kaz, not eating immediately. He stared at his food for a moment, still hesitant about eating it. Well, if Kaz had eaten it before and was fine… He picked up his burger and took a bite, chewing slowly. Hell, he didn’t think it would taste so good.
Kaz smiled around a mouthful of burger, reaching over with one foot to tap it against Vaughn's. "See? Burgers are good, and that is a fact," he said, chuckling a little before taking another bite
“That could possibly have drugs in them,” Vaughn added, taking another bite. He smiled softly at the touch to his shoe. It was a small, simple thing, but it was affectionate. And he liked simple things.
"Oh, stop it. They've drugged us up so much already that I highly doubt they crammed pills into burgers," Kaz chuckled, giving Vaughn's foot a playful nudge before going back to eating
Vaughn chuckled softly, shrugging his shoulders loosely. “You never know for certain, this place is insane,” he said, shaking his head slowly. His smile grew at the second touch, and he shifted slightly in his chair.
"That's because we're all insane, dear," Kaz laughed, continuing to tap Vaughn's foot absently as he ate. He couldn't seem to help his smile, and it only grew wider as he talked to Vaughn. He didn't understand what it was, but something about Vaughn just made him…happy
Vaughn continued to eat, taking his time as best as he could. He didn’t want to leave this peaceful moment. He did finish his burger surprisingly fast, considering how hungry he was. Using a napkin, he wiped his mouth off, glancing back up at Kaz.
Kaz finished his burger as well, reaching for the soda he had grabbed earlier. "You think we'll mutate soon?" he asked out of pure anxiety, taking a sip of his soda as he stared at Vaughn
“God, I hope not,” Vaughn commented, shaking his head slowly. He picked up a bottle of water, popping the cap open and taking a long drink before setting the bottle back down. “I have a bad feeling about it,” he added.
"Yeah. I heard one of the guys from one of the other tables say that if you've got stuff like multiple personality disorder things can get a lot worse. I just hope that it doesn't cause something crazy with me, like…Kaon splitting from me or something," Kaz said, shuddering slightly at the thought
“Hey, if he split from you, that would give e a chance to freely kick his ass as much as I please,” Vaughn added like it was such a wonderful thing. He would just love to do so, though. Kaon was a complete ass, and he didn’t like the things that the things that the other personality would say to Kaz.
"Oh my god, I would pay to see that shit. I'd help you kick his ass too, for all the screaming in my brain and shit," Kaz laughed, taking another sip of his soda. "Who knows? Maybe if I will it hard enough it'll happen so we can kick his ass."
“I think that could be the only good thing that would come out of this mutation,” Vaughn commented with a slight chuckle, allowing his shoulders to slouch. He downed about half of his water, nudging Kaz’s shoe with his own lightly.
"Yeah. Who knows, maybe we'll get something cool. I dunno, maybe you'll get to turn into a knife or something," Kaz said, beginning to laugh at the mental image of Vaughn randomly turning into a floating knife. He nudged Vaughn's shoe with his as he laughed, giggling as he looked up at him
“Turning into a knife? What kind of goddamn shit is that?” Vaughn laughed, shaking his head slowly at the thought. “If I turned into a knife, how would I give you kisses and snuggle with you, huh?”
"No, no, I-ehe-I mean you could turn into a knife at will. Hulk that shit, but instead of mean and green you're lean and…pointy," Kaz giggled. In the back of his mind he genuinely hoped that the two of them didn't mutate in a way that kept them from being intimate. He would admit that he was a sucker for cuddles
“That would still be terrible,” Vaughn said, rolling his eyes. Though he smiled softly, taking a long drink of his water. He hoped nothing too major happened during the mutation. It would just make his life miserable.
"Yeah, but you could just ram yourself into people and skewer them like a bad horror movie," Kaz chuckled, finally stopping his laughing long enough to finish his soda. "You wanna go back to the room, now? Wait to see if we turn into floating knives or not?"
“Never say that first part again, it sounded a lot different than you meant,” Vaughn said, faking a disgusted appearance. “But sure, let’s go up to the room.” He pushed to his feet, brushing himself off as his finished the rest of the water.
Kaz stood there for a moment before snorting after he realized what he had said. "Yeah, yeah, let's go back to the room before I make more of a fool of myself," he giggled, tossing his empty soda into the nearby trash can before walking around the table and taking Vaughn's hand
Vaughn tossed his water bottle away, intertwining their fingers. He led Kaz out of the cafeteria, smiling lightly as he did so. He gave Kaz’s hand a gentle squeeze as they walked, humming softly as he did so.
Kaz's smile widened. For some reason, Vaughn just seemed to make him so much happier. He began to hum along with Vaughn, grinning up at him as they walked
Vaughn could hear Kaz’s hums over his own and he stopped. He looked down at Kaz with a gentle smile, arching a brow slightly. “Why are you so happy?”
"Dunno. Guess you just put me in a good mood, is all," Kaz said, though his smile faltered the smallest bit. Was he annoying Vaughn? He hoped he wasn't, especially after he had messed up so many times already. Of course you're annoying him, you dumb bastard, his mind sneered
