Veda glanced over the phone number and clicked her pen open, making note of the number in her notebook. She gave Rai a quick smile and nodded her head quickly before the professor could notice.

(Since they're only in class, I'm just gonna do a time-leap if that's alright)
The bell rang signalling the end of the period and Eve gathered her things, leaving the classroom. She wandered the hallways, knowing she had time before 3rd period started but not wanting to be in class just yet.
The bell rang again, and the day dragged on as usual. Lloyd always became increasingly aware how heavy his bag was as the hours crawled slowly, minutes and seconds seeming like years.
Eve looked around as the hallways started to clear and saw Lloyd. As she was walking over to him, she noticed how heavy his bag was starting to look, almost as though he'd add more textbooks.
"Hi Eve." Lloyd greeted her as she came over, adjusting the strap of his bag so it wasn't digging into his shoulder as much.
"Hey Lloyd. Did you add more books to your bag?" Eve asked, worried that he was taking on too much and that he might hurt himself. "Why do you carry so many?" she continued.
"Well, I was reading one while I walked earlier, and it's in my bag now, so I guess I added one. And I carry all of them so I don't have to go to my locker I guess? Also because I read for recreational purposes, and then I have all my books close."
"As long as you don't hurt yourself by carrying so many." Eve replied.
"I don't usually hurt myself too bad by carrying it, but sometimes those jocks use it as a weapon against me, like they did today. It'll definitely hurt tomorrow, particularly since it does now, too."
"They did that? When? Who?" Eve got louder as she spoke, getting defensive on Lloyd's behalf.
"Er, earlier today, I was leaving class, some jocks came up to me… i-it really isn't a big deal, t-they just pushed me against the lockers and… and threw my bag at me…" Lloyd looked away, his argument feeling pretty weak.
"Who was it?" Eve looked at him, ready to yell at the jerks who'd hurt her friend
"I-I don't know their names. Usually they're just all talk, but they seemed mad about something today…"
"I'm not going to let this slide by again. This has happened too many times. I'm not leaving your side in the halls now." Eve stated looking directly at Lloyd.
"Eve, y-you really don't have to do that! You probably have places to be, and I'm fine! I-I just have to… avoid the guys? I don't know…"
"Nope! My teachers don't count me late anymore anyways. They gave up on me showing up on time." Eve said proudly. "I'm not going to let them hurt you again." she finished
Lloyd eventually gave up on protesting. Eve was very stubborn, and if she set her mind to something, nothing would stop her. There was definitely no way he could convince her not to.
Eve, winning the argument, smiled and walked beside Lloyd to his next class. "So, what have you been reading today? Did you get any new books other than textbooks today?" she asked him.
He shook his head. "I mostly read textbooks, particularly science ones. I enjoy science." He caught a glimpse of the jocks around the corner and tensed up a bit, falling silent.
Eve saw Lloyd tense up and looked forward to see a group of rowdy boys from the football team. Putting two and two together, she realized those were the boys that had been bullying Lloyd. She stepped away from Lloyd and walked up to the jocks, "Do you really think it's okay to bully someone for being smart?!" she shouted at them, drawing the attention of several other students and teachers in the hallway.
The jocks seemed to be pretending that they had no idea what Eve was talking about, trying to walk away. Lloyd just tried to stay out of sight, watching the scene nervously.
"Don't you dare walk away from me while I'm talking to you!" she shouted at them as they tried to leave. She knew recognized some of them as people she used to be friends with when she was little. Some of them still lived in her neighborhood and their moms were still good friends so they knew who she was. "What gives you the right to bully someone smarter than you?!" she yelled, "You better watch it because some day he's going to be your boss and you're going to regret everything you did to him!" she continued yelling as they stopped, looking down at their feet ashamed.
The jocks spotted Lloyd and glared at him, causing him to try and shrink a bit, shying away. He appreciated Eve's efforts, but he doubted the jocks would pay much mind. Most likely, they'd just lay low for a day or two before going right back to normal.
"I don't EVER want to hear about you hurting him ever again! Do you hear me?!" Eve yelled at them, noticing as they glared at something behind her. She turned and saw Lloyd trying hide from their eyes burning into him. She turned back around and noticed they had started to walk towards Lloyd while her head was turned. Eve ran in front of him and glared back, but they shoved her aside to get to Lloyd. She hit the ground harder than she thought she would, her hair getting in her eyes as she looked up at the boys, still glaring.
"Eve! A-are you okay?" Lloyd started to walk towards her before freezing, the jocks still glaring at him.
"So, your girlfriend's protecting you now? That's just sad Windsor, I expected better from you." The ringleader jeered at him, and his buddies laughed,
"She's not my girlfriend! She's my friend! L-leave her alone! It's me you want anyways!"
