"Umm… alright?" Cece says. Luca had already taken off, so she shrugged and put her hands in her pockets. She began to walk towards her apartment when she remembered she needed to pick something up for her mum. She turned on her heel and started walking to the post office.
He raced down the sidewalk to his apartment. Luca made his way up to the fifth floor and used his key to open the door. His mom had beaten him here. She was sitting on the couch and when she saw Luca she stood up and walked over to him, crossing her arms. "Luca where have you been? I've been here for ten minutes!" Uh oh. He didn't talk to his family much, but his mom was the one person that he ever acknowledged. "I was just walking around. Wanted to get some fresh air." He wasn't technically lying, he just didn't mention the whole magic part. His mom's face relaxed slightly and she smiled at him. "That's fine then." She turned around and began walking over to the couch. "By the way," She started. "Your cousin is staying the night tonight." She looked over at him. "Try to be nice." Luca sighed. All his plans to stay away from his family were being ruined. He didn't respond to her as he went to his room to sulk.
(oops that was a lot sorry)
Cece arrived at the post office and went inside. There weren't many people there, probably because it was 4:00pm on a Friday. She walked up to the desk and grabbed what she needed to before leaving again. She hailed a cab down to her apartment. When she got there, she went straight up to her floor and into her home. "Mum?" she called.
"Over here!" her mum called back. It came from her bedroom. Cece walked into her mum's room, where she was lying on her bed. Cece looked around at the room, with her mum coughing on the bed and the seemingly random assortment of medicines on the bedside table.
"I got the package you wanted." Cece said, walking up to her mum and handing her the brown package.
"Oh, thank you." she wheezed, taking the package from Cece before giving it right back. "It's a present for you, from your father." She said 'from your father' with a pure hatred. Cece looked at the package.
"Are you sure?" she asked.
"Just open it. If you don't like it, we can sell it," her mum replied. She smiled at that, and Cece smiled back. She opened the package to see a box inside. She opened the box, and on a white platform sat a silver necklace with a lightning bolt charm. Her mum leaned over and took it, unclipping it and putting it around her daughter's neck. "Might not make for him leaving, but it's pretty." she said, smiling. Cece smiled too, looking at the necklace. Her parents were the only two people other than her that knows about her powers.
(sorry that was really long XD)
Luca shut the door to his room and grabbed the journal from his desk. It was made of leather and was very beaten up. A small droplet was engraved on the front of it along with the quote he had memorized: "Heavy hearts, like heavy clouds in the sky, are best relieved by the letting of a little water." He didn't ever write anything in the journal, but he liked to keep it around; it was his brothers. Luca didn't dare take it to school or anywhere for that matter. It was mainly because he didn't want to loose it, but also because he didn't want anyone to think he wrote in a diary. His cousin had found it the last time she stayed over and her words haunted him: "You keep a diary? Makes sense, you're always crying like a baby. It's a little girly though, isn't it?"
Her father was an inventor, and a successful one at that. He gave her her powers at the invention fair. She was trying out his invention when it backfired. Her parents got divorced after that. Cece peeked into her mum's room - she was asleep. She slowly closed the door, making sure not to make a sound. She needed to practice with her powers, and there was only one place that was isolated enough for her to do that without someone finding her.
Luca sighed, throwing the journal back where it had been sitting. He was too confused to cry about the past. He opened his window and created another ball of water, throwing it as far as he could. Luca smiled as he saw it splash onto the street, barely missing a car. Maybe he could make a game out of this. He laughed as he threw another ball of water. Then another.
The dump wasn't exactly the classiest place, but it was isolated. Cece walked out her door and started heading down the street. She was walking past an apartment block when she got drenched by water. She looked around at where it came from, shivering from the cold.
Oops. He'd accidentally hit someo-wait was that Cece? "Sorry!" Luca yelled. Wait, he needed to think of an excuse. "I..uh…dropped my water balloon!" What kind of excuse was that? Wow, he was terrible at this.
Skylar woke to water being splashed on her. What? She looked out of the window she had accidentally left open before collapsing on her bed. She watched as orbs of water flew out of a window. The boy. It came from the fifth floor of an apartment complex. She ran to the building and knocked on the door the boy's apartment.
"You've got to be kidding me." Cece shouts, looking up at Luca. "A water balloon?"
He heard the knocking and yelled out to Cece. "Some one's knocking! I have to go!" Luca shut his window and went to answer the door, but his mom was already there. She was talking to that girl, the one with green hair. He walked over behind his mom, who had just finished asking what the mysterious girl wanted.
"And he's walked away." Cece sighs, looking down at her drenched clothes. They were zapping with electricity.
"Oh, it's fine I just needed to talk to…" Skylar noticed the boy behind the woman who had answered the door.
The woman looked back, "Oh, Luca! This girl wanted to talk to you!"
Skylar was let in and told him, "Hey Luca! Remember me? Skylar?" She gave him a look that said "Play along."
Luca nodded slightly, catching on. "Yeah, of course I do." He turned to his mom. "This is…Skylar. She's a friend." His mom gave him that look. The one she gives him every time he mentions that he's friends with a girl. Embarrassed and nervous that she'd say something, he quickly spoke out. "What are you doing here?"
"I saw you with that water orb today, and I got hit by one you threw from your room," Skylar whispered harshly, "You need to be more careful or others will find out!"
Cece didn't know if she should wait for Luca to come back, or if she should just leave. She decided to stay, it was pretty quiet there. She made an energy orb and bounced it between her hands.
Luca looked up at his mom. "Can you…go some where else? This is a private conversation." Oh no, she was going to ask more questions then usual. Once she left, he turned back to Skylar. "You saw? Have you been stalking me or something?"
(I have to go for now sorry. Bye!)
(K, we'll continue the conversation between our characters tomorrow)
Ashira opened her window to let some cold air into her apartment. She went to her desk and unlocked a drawer. Inside of the drawer was a notebook, the notebook had a cover made of an unknown type of leather on the cover there were Norse symbols, the whole notebook was written in Norse. "A water balloon?" These faint words interrupted her thoughts. Sometimes she wished her hearing wasn't as good as it was. Ashira put the notebook back in the drawer and locked it. It sounded like it was coming from the apartment building a block away from hers. She morphed into a pigeon -
because the comment 'weird bird' made her realize the falcon wasn't much fitting in with the crowd - then flew to the apartment building. She saw Luca in his window looking down at a girl. "Some one's knocking! I have to go!" she heard Luca yell to the girl. Ashira moved closer to his window, she perched on the windowsill hoping not to be noticed, and ready to fly away if needed.
(Sorry this is a little late to be writing this but….)
Cece looked up at the window to see if Luca had come back, but the only thing there was a pigeon. She got rid of her energy ball and began to walk away. Might as well get to the dump, she thought.
Luca waited for Skylar to answer. He thought about what had happened. So, three weird girls in one day plus the water generation. Huh. He really needed some answers from Skylar. "Actually, don't answer that. I have a better question." Luca paused. "Who are the others?"
