"Just had to deal with a minor problem, but it's fixed, for now," Avery explained vaguely. "Then we figured out a couple of routes to our location."
"Just had to deal with a minor problem, but it's fixed, for now," Avery explained vaguely. "Then we figured out a couple of routes to our location."
Vaughn frowned slightly, but decided not to ask about it. “Alright, good. How much longer?”
Avery looked over at Dylan. "It's still about a day, right? Maybe a bit longer if we're heading into the wind?"
Dylan nodded affirmation, "We've got a ways. 'Course, I could always try to make the ship faster. But I ain't gonna risk that with my powers acting up."
"Yeah, no, you definitely shouldn't. We can stick to this; we're making good enough time this way," Avery replied, shaking her head.
(Just making sure this doesn't go past page one.)
Dylan turned back to Vaughn, "Everything clear up here?"
(Bumping back to page one.)
(Oh my gosh I totally forgot to respond to this, sorry!)
Vaughn gave Dylan a nod. “Everything looks fine. The waves seem to be getting calmer.”
(Lol, it's okay.)

"Well then wind isn't going to be a problem. We'll be there soon enough."
Dylan sat on the railing, his back out to sea, "Anyone got any interesting stories?"
"I could tell you guys how my team and I got our powers if you'd like," Avery suggested.
Vaughn leaned against the railing and looked at Avery. “Go on ahead,” he said in a level tone, slightly annoyed by the fact that the longer section of his hair fell into his eyes.
"Okay…" Avery trailed off, looking thoughtful for a moment as she recalled the incident from two years ago. She looked over the water as she started to speak, "Well, my friends, my sister, and I were working on a play — ironically about a group of kids who got superpowers and stuff — and we decided to go explore the building that we had just held out last show in. We were walking down a hallway, which was filled with some expensive-looking artwork, when we noticed this door. It looked completely normal and identical to the others, aside from the fact that its handle was golden-colored rather than the bronze of the other ones. I felt like it was pulling me towards it, so my group made our way over.
"When we got the door open, the ground shook. I was the only one who noticed, though, and the other girls didn't believe me when I told them. After walking into the room, which was filled all kinds of different cables and cords, the ground shook again. This time, I warned my friends to get under the large, metal table that was in the center of the room if it happened again. Which it did. The building started to collapse on top of us, and we all made it under the table with only a few minor cuts and bruises.
"After a while, the shaking stopped. The building was no longer falling down around us, but we were trapped by the rubble surrounding us. There was this weird, bright blue, glowing bubble surrounding us, keeping us safe from anything that would have hit us. It was really strange. I had noticed that a part of each of us was touching it, but, at the time, I didn't think anything of it.
"Then, the next day, my sister woke me up and told me that she could freeze time. That's a really weird thing to wake up to, by the way. Especially since she then proceeded to demonstrate by taking my favorite jean jacket. Anyway… Later that day, we met up with the rest of the group who we had been with, and they all said that they had gotten powers, too.
"Long story short, my friends and I got superpowers because we touched a glowing, blue bubble under stressful circumstances."
Avery looked back at the guys. "So, yeah. That's basically what happened. It was a really weird night…"
(That is literally the summary of the prologue and first chapter of my book, btw…)
(Cool cool)
Vaughn nodded slowly, having listened intently. He rubbed at his jaw, feeling the light stubble that had formed from not shaving in a while. “So you all just formed a team because of it?”
Avery shrugged.
"Yeah, pretty much. I mean, why not, right? We've got these powers, so why not use them to do something good?"
Vaughn gave a hum in response and nodded his head. He supposed that she was right.
(…Now what…?)
