A growl emanated from Avery's throat as she saw the woman shoot Vaughn's foot. She raced over to them and bared her teeth.
"Get out of here," she growled at the woman.
The woman glared at Vaughn, and when Avery spoke, she just rolled her eyes.
Vaughn let the woman go, putting most of his weight on his good foot. His ankle was most likely broken, and he mentally cursed himself.
The woman shot Vaughn an evil-looking grin, then pulled another gun from her side. She waved it in front of him teasingly before aiming at Avery.
"Change back now, or I shoot you both," she demanded.
"Never!" Avery exclaimed, lunging at her.
Vaughn realized that he didn’t have his own gun on him, and he took a stumbling step towards the two. “Avery, don’t!”
From out of a shadowy void two hands reached out, one picking up Avery and carrying her to a safe distance, the other took hold of the lady. Dylan walked from behind the door.
"Do not lay a finger on her, you wretch!" He spat, blades of ice in his voice yet again, "I will make you suffer!" With that, he created an umbra guillotine and held her towards the blade.
“Dylan, don’t,” Vaughn spat, glaring sharply. “We can use her for information.”
Element jumped out, and lifted the earth around the old woman, creating a stony trap. "Someone knock her out!" she yelled.
(Is this while she's in Dylan's hold? Just making sure.)
Dylan wheeled around, both eyes blazing gold fury. He didn't drop the blade, but he didn't dispel it either, instead leaving both the guillotine and the hand in place. He did release Avery, who he had seen transform into a wolf.
"As if you have the right to tell me who or who not to kill, Vaughn! "
“She can’t do anything to hurt you now! Don’t be an arse, there’s no need to kill the woman!” Vaughn shouted harshly.
( yes. super strong trap )
Element huffed, and with her free hand she pulled up a rock and dropped it on the woman's head. She fell unconscious. Element pulled her up, still in the rocky prison, and tried to move her, but Dylan's…. thing was blocking her. "Dylan." she grunted, her teeth clenched. Rocks were not fun to hold in the air.
Avery struggled to get free from Dylan's shadowy grasp, and when he finally did, she jumped away from where she'd been held. She growled once before changing back into her regular form, then walked over to the group, fuming.
She faced Dylan, hands on her hips and a fierce, fiery look in her eyes. "Why would you do that?" she demanded hotly. "I could've taken her just fine!"
Dylan dropped his shadow on the woman as he turned to Avery, and Element moved her to the corner of the gas station, letting out a breath as the weight came off her shoulders. She walked over, and made her trap more secure.
Dylan turned in surprise, and all at once his demeanor changed. His shadows vanished, and his eyes returned to their bi-colored state. He blinked a couple times.
What just happened?
Dylan turned to look behind him. The woman was unconscious. He turned back to Avery, a dumbfounded look on his face.
"What did I do? I didn't kill anyone, did I?"
“I’m going to go do something this..” Vaugh said, motioning towards his ankle. He stumbled inside, catching himself on the counter and moving into the back room. He collapsed onto his cot, coving his face with a pillow when he got the urge to scream out of frustration.
He pulled a box from under the bed and dug through the medical supplies. He took his boot off and grimaced at the sight of his ankle. It was definetly shattered, and he was positive he would end up with a pretty terrible limp.
(This is getting good!)
"No, thank goodness!" Avery exclaimed, still fuming. "You very nearly did, though! And you practically dragged me away from what I was about to do, too! Why would you do that? Don't you think I can handle myself?"
Element sighed as they argued. She walked over to the woman, and shoved her trap down into the floor, so that it would be even more secure. "We had to open the door for the lost old lady…" she whispered as she worked.
Vaughn had no clue of how to fix a broken bone. He could hand,e a flesh wound, but this was past his knowledge. He dug out bandages and wrapped his ankle tightly, hissing in pain.
He couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that people were now aware of where he was staying. He couldn’t help feeling annoyed that because he took the others in, the police could possibly know where he was. He exhaled, pushing the thoughts from his mind. ‘It’s not their fault,’ he reminded himself, and leaned back on his cot.
"Of course I do, Avery! I wouldn't dare pull you away!" He stammered.
Did I really protect her subconsciously? What happened while I was "out?"
Dylan slowed his breathing a bit, in an attempt to calm himself, "Tell me exactly what I just did. I promise that whatever I did I didn't do on purpose, but I did do it for a reason."

(I'm sorry, I'm a nerd…)
Avery closed her eyes and focused on breathing for a moment. When she opened them, she was much calmer than before. She explained to Dylan exactly what happened, starting with the woman at the door—even though she figured he would remember that, she still wanted to make sure she gave him the correct details—and ending with him "waking up."
"And I'm sorry," she apologized, her eyes downcast, "for yelling at you. I just… I was just annoyed. I'm sorry."
Dylan listened intently, and as she went over the parts of his fury he closed his eyes, imagining himself holding some lady to the blade. He shuddered as he heard the hatred in his voice.
None of it made sense. His mild temper never resulted in thoughts of murder. He hadn't used his light against the lady, and that's normally what triggered his aggression. He filed the whole thing away in his memory.
"Thanks. And I understand. At any rate, we need to get back inside. E has our guest, and I have info.*
The stolen police radio that was sat on the floor began to buzz, and a voice crackled, saying, “Yeah, there was a report that some gunshots were heard down on highway twenty five, I’m taking a team out there now.”
Vaughn shot up, hurrying as quickly as he could to get up. He grabbed a duffel bag, shaving various items inside. He huffed angrily when he remembered that he moved some of his things to the basement.
He stumbled from the back room, trying not to put much weight on his shattered ankle. He snatched the keys from the counter top and went slowly down the stairs. He unlocked a door and went inside, digging through boxes of papers and collecting as many as he could, then the “black magic” things. He crammed them all into the bag and locked the room backup before gingery climbing the stairs. He grabbed a wad of cash from a drawer, along with his pistol and ammunition.
Element sat down by the unconscious woman and leaned against the freezer. "This day has truly sucked." she grumbled quietly, taking her glasses off and wiping away the fog on them. She put them back on, and traveled to the back of the gas station. "Vaughn, I know you got shot in the foot. Do you want me to heal you?" she asked, leaning against the wall. She had no clue where in the gas station he was, so she hoped he could hear her.
