The doctor glanced at Finn who was gave Jay an encouraging smile. His eyes sad. The doctor turned back to Jay and nodded. “That’s ok. We don’t have to call them but will have to report this. Can you tell me what happened and what hurts?”
Jay bit his lip a little bit, then pulled up his shirt to reveal the patchwork of bruises that was near-permanent on his pale skin. "This. And it…" he shrugged, letting his shirt drop back down again.
The doctor nodded for a second. He put a pair of gloves on and started examining his bruises. Finn tried to keep his eyes on Jay’s face not looking at his wounds.
Jay flinched a little bit at the touches, swallowing softly and trying not to jump away.
"That hurts?" He asked lightly pressing on where his ribs are?" He asked trying to keep on a smile. Finn almost jumped up when he saw JAy flinch but tried to stay seated.
Jay nodded a little bit. "Uhm…yeah." he said, shifting just a little bit, trying not to flinch again.
The doctor nodded. “I’ll order an X-ray.,” he said. “I’ll also get some pain medication. Have you taken any today?”
He shook his head. "No, I don't think I have." he replied softly.
The doctor nodded. “Does your head hurt at all or anywhere else?” He asked. Writing someone down.
(Gtg soon)
He shook his head. "No." he replied softly.
(Ok Gn)
The doctor nodded. “I’ll be back,” he said walking out. Finn stood up. “You did a really good job,” he said taking his hand.
Jay bit his lip, looking at Finn. "I…I don't know about that, but…thank you."
“You did,” Finn reassured. “We’ll probably have to wait for a bit but no one should come to question you until after the XRay.”
He nodded slightly. "Okay." he said quietly.
Finn smiled and sat close to Jay. “It’s going to be okay,” he whispered. The doctor came back in with some nurses and a machine.
Jay nodded, and watched the doctor and nurses.
Finn stood up so they could start the X-ray.
Jay waited, biting his lip a little.
The doctor took some notes. “You have 3 broken ribs,” he explained. “Those should heal from lots of bed rest, but they might not heal correctly since 2 of them seem to be old.”
Jay bit his lip slightly, and nodded. "Oh. Okay."
The doctor nodded. “I’ll be back later on. You lay here,” he said as a lady showed up at the curtain.
Jay nodded again, and did as the doctor had said to, chewing on his lip anxiously.
The lady came forward Finn still stood there. He reached for Jay’s hand. “Hello I’m Margarette Potter with the Department If children and Families,” She said smiling. “Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?”
Jay hesitated, then nodded. "Okay." he replied simply.
Finn stayed silent trying no to make sure they don’t have a reason to kick him out early. “Who do you live With?” She asked calmly.
