Finn shook his head. “None of this is your fault. Now come on buckle up,” he said voice slightly shaky.
Finn shook his head. “None of this is your fault. Now come on buckle up,” he said voice slightly shaky.
Jay nodded, letting go and buckling up. His face was bruised and he was shaking.
Finn took a deep breath and drove off. “Jay. Can we run away?”
Jay looked over at him, confused. "But…but we need to finish school." he replied faintly.
“We could do online school or we can just wait until we are 18 and three enroll ourselves,” he said running out of ideas.
"No, that…that wouldn't work." Jay replied softly. "I…"
“Why? We need to do something. I’m not-You can’t go back to that house,” he said parking on the side of the road because he really had no clue where they could go.
Jay bit his lip, and shrugged, curling down into his seat. "But if you leave your aunt you might never see Poppy again…"
Finn shook his head. “We-we can bring her with. Maybe even willow since she turns 18 in two days. The deal with her apartment fell through. We can just all run off,” he tried looking at him.
"We can't, Finn." Jay replied, looking over at Finn. "We can't bring Poppy because your aunt is her legal guardian and it would be kidnapping and you could go to prison. I could go to prison for aiding and abetting or something."
Finn bit his lip and sighed. “Fine then j-just us. I can’t stay in that house anymore either. It’s not like I'm allowed near her anyway,” he said staring out the window. “I’ll try to fight after I turn 18.” He placed a hand on his knee. “Please Jay. It’s either This or we report your dad.”
Jay flinched a little bit at the touch without meaning to, letting out a faint breath. "S-sorry…" he whispered. "I just…if I report my dad…what happens? My mom can't make enough money for us to stay in that house, or…or anywhere, so we'd be out on the streets, and…"
“He’s hurting you Jay. Your health is more important than anything else right now. Please we can figure something out after,” He said. “I can bring you to a hospital that way they can actually treat your injuries.”
"I'll be okay. it's just six months until my birthday. I'll…I'll survive."
“But then what will you do? You’ll still be in the same situation with the same problem,” he said taking his hand. “I don’t even know what we should do now.”
Jay shrugged. "Once I'm eighteen I can move out and it'll be fine." He replied softly.
“I don’t want to just drive you back there,” Finn said shaking his head. “Come on Jay. I can help out more if we report him. I have my own money saved up,” he said.
"Finn…I don't want to fuck up your life any more than I already have…" He said softly, slowly.
“You won’t Jay. Trust me please,” Finn practically begged. “I wont…can’t just sit here and let him hurt you. You already said I can’t go talk to him and honestly if I went in there right now there wouldn’t be much talking.”
"What if they don't believe me?" he asked, voice heart-breakingly quiet and scared. "What if they don't believe me and I have to go back there?"
“They will. I’ll make sure they do and you’ll never have to go back to him again,” he said facing him.
Jay sniffled softly, rubbing at his eyes and trying not to cry. "I just…I'm scared, Finn."
“Me too,” Finn admitted taking his hand. “But it’s ok because we have each other.”
Jay leaned over to rest his head on Finn's shoulder.
Finn wrapped and arm around him. A hand in his hair.
