An hour later, Elide walk back in chucking the pens at Hayes and the pain killers at Jay, walking into the kitchen to make a drink.
Jay fell off the stool as the bottles were thrown at him, startled. He shakily opened the bottle, trying to regain his bearings.
“Anything interesting happen while I was out?” Elide sat down with her hot chocolate.
"N-Nothing, other than you scaring me half to death." Jay swallowed two of the pills.
“Oh… s-sorry.” She took a sip of her drink.
Jay grimaced a bit as he stood back up, placing the bottle on the counter.
“Why did you need the pain killers?” Elide said quietly, luckily it was only the two of them right now so she hoped Jay would answer.
Great. Well, you can't tell her of course. Just… come up with something! "I have a… h-headache… yeah." You're such a terrible liar…
She shook her head, “No, you don’t…please… tell me the truth.” She kept her voice down.
Can you trust her? I don't see why not. She hasn't proven herself trustworthy! Well she hasn't done the opposite either. "I… I don't really know how to explain it… s-so I guess…" Jay hesitated before pulling off his hoodie, revealing the dark bruises and cuts on his arms. There were plenty on his back as well that weren't visible due to his shirt.
Elide stayed silent for a minute, “What are they from?” Her mind went to self harm like her own, hence the therapy but… it could be different.
Jay was silent for a few moments before speaking in a whisper. "M-My parents…" He looked away, rubbing his arms absently.
Elide was shocked… “No. Wow, I can’t believe that. I’m sorry. I suppose a secret for a secret,” she rolled up her left sleeve to reveal her own cuts.
Those look like… I recognize that kind of cut… self inflicted of course, by the angle… Jay looked up at Elide, tears stinging his eyes. Why must the world be as cruel as this? There is so much suffering…
She pulled down her sleeve, “Don’t waste your tears on me… it’s not worth it…” I’m not worth it She thought but shook her head. “Please don’t tell the others, I-I don’t want people worry over me.” She said quietly.
"I-I'm sorry… I… don't normally tell anyone… y-you're actually the only one who knows, save my parents of course…" Jay pulled his hoodie back over his head, quickly trying to brush away the tears. You're weak… pull yourself together! "Stupid!" He yelled, slapping himself. Great, and now I'm acting out my thoughts…
“Hey, it’s fine to cry… you’re not weak for it. I’m glad you told me. I won’t tell, I swear it.” She placed a hand on her heart.
"I'm sorry… I-I'm so sorry…" Jay drew his knees up to his chest, tears rising to his eyes again as he whispered apologies weakly.
Elide moved over to his side, trying to comfort him, “It’s okay, you’ll be okay,” She gently places her hand on his knee, still trying to comfort him.
Stupid, stupid, stupid! You're useless! Just like they always said! Pull yourself together, you're supposed to be an adult, so you better start acting like one! Jay tried to ignore his thoughts, hiding his face in his arms. Muffled 'sorry's were still faintly audible.
“Jay, can you look at me, p..please?” Elide asked quietly.
Jay hesitated before lifting his head slightly to turn his eyes towards Elide. You hardly know these people… what a great impression you're making…
The day continued on and soon, it was lunchtime and Darcy was finally awake, "Thank god it's only the weekend," she muttered to herself. She stretched her back (it was sore from sleeping on a skateboard) and decided that she would quickly get ready and make her roommates lunch. She hobbled to her room and threw on a summer dress. As she made her way to the kitchen she tied her hair back into a ponytail.
( is it alright if i assume it is lunchtime now? i can change it.. )
“I know what… what you’re thinking. You’re weak, stupid and useless but.. but you’re not. I now we’ve only just met but… I know these things, live them. If you need to talk about… about anything then just tell me.” Elide made a small smile, “I’ll make you a coffee.”
