Skye laughed, "This is the extent of telepathy, the rest is up to them." he looked over at his brother, who had taken a few paces back.
Skye laughed, "This is the extent of telepathy, the rest is up to them." he looked over at his brother, who had taken a few paces back.
Septima kept at least one hand on Skye's arm the whole time, afraid of what would happen if she let go. She watched everything that was going on, intending to learn by doing rather than asking more stupid questions.
Arthur's auras suddenly surrounded them, and they were in a damp cell. The cell was empty. But the others weren't. All manner of creatures were trapped in them. Humans, a griffon, a flock of Pheonix, a few Wolves, a few more Wolves and Humans in another cage, each bearing an amulet similiar to the Brother's. Skye visibly paled, "This is worse than I thought…" he said quietly.
"Oh…" Septima whispered, "I… I had no idea it would be this bad…"
She looked around the prison, examining the individuals trapped in cells for injuries and other things that might indicate what had been done to them.
Many of the prisoners were wounded, half starved, and most looked like they'd been beaten. Skye shuddered as Arthur led them out of the cell, a second shadowy form standing just behind him.
Septima tensely followed. She didn't say a word as she passed through the cell door.
I don't even think the prison they were kept in was this bad…
"Arthur" Skye looked up at his brother, who held up a hand, still surrounding himself with a concealing aura. "Arthur where are you going?" he asked, following the other through a series of narrow.
Arthur didn't answer. Are you sure? he spoke silently to the figure beside him.
Very. came the reply.
Septima stuck very close to Skye's side.
"What's going on?" she asked, before realizing she was trembling with fear.
Skye frowned, "Arthur's the one in charge here…" he said, "Though I'm no-" he was cut off as one of Arthur's tendrils of power silenced him. Next he stepped through a metal door, revealing a guy with wings. He was thin, bone thin. And his draconic wings shimmered blue and green, and blue and green scales showed on his body. The guy looked up, his dark eyes seeming to focus on Skye and Septima, before his eyes widened and locked on Arthur.
Septima gasped and clasped a hand over her mouth.
So this is…
She looked around the cells, but her gaze kept returning to the draconic being.
Skye looked up at him. "Arthur… he shouldn't be able to see us…" he said quietly.
Arthur didn't move, watching the other.
The dragon halfblood flicked a finger, and a deep blue glow tried to dispel the mists around Arthur. Sighing his closed his eyes for a moment, "Please…. I sense you're like me…. You have to leave….." he said quietly, his voice hoarse.
Arthur sighed. "I am of wolf blood. Not dragon. Though my aura, which has become one with every part of me, is said to be of dragon origins." he said softly.
"But… I can see the glint of your scales…." he said, "Even dragon's magic wouldn't do that to your true form…"
Septima chose to remain quiet. She looked at Skye, in a sort of "what do we do?"
She kept an eye on the prison around them, in case they actually were visible.
Skye gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "I'm not sure what's going on exactly. But somehow he can see through plains of reality. And he thinks Arthur is another Dragon Hybrid."
"Oh, so just him…"
Septima relaxed a little.
"It is strange, though. He said his aura is draconic though… Is that not explanation enough? And h-how do we get these guys out of here? They're looking terrible! We don't have time- they'll die!"
"Septima Calma…" he said, "There's a good reason for him not believing Arthur.
The hybrid watched them, "I can see your scales! How can you claim to not be like me?"
Arthur sighed, reluctantly letting his mist fall, revealing his wings, and scales. The scales melded with his skin much like the hybrid's. but they were uneven. Uneven and in rows. They resembled scars.
"These are not the markings of a dragon's son." said Arthur firmly. "They are scars of survival."
Septima heard a scream of pain a few cells back, and she pressed her hands over her ears, though she still tried to quietly keep her eyes on Arthur and understand what was happening.
Skye winced too, and put up a silence shield around them.
Arthur gave the Hybrid a hard look. "This is my true form only in this state. Or when I use the full extent of my powers. But it is not how I was born." he said firmly. "Every scale brings pain. Memories of the past." the shadows faded further and there was a second, dark haired man next to Arthur. He had wings too, identical to Arthur's.
"I feel like there's some explaining he has to do, but it'll all go over my head…" Septima murmured, visibly upset by their surroundings.
Her voice was much duller and more shaky than normal.
Arthur sighed, "I'll explain, if you need me to." he said, "But not here." he looked back to the Hybrid. Then their surroundings faded until they were back in their quarters. Arthur sighed, "I definitely wasn't expecting that…" he said.
Septima froze where she stood.
"No… Was anyone?"
She was a little out of breath, and her blue eyes were wide with shock.
Skye shook his head. "No… definitely not." He said, "Arthur… how come Discordion appeared with you this time?" He asked.
"Discordion's been keeping the more difficult part of the illusion stable." Said Arthur.
"Discordion… That's the guy you… right?"
Septima's mind was going too fast for her to form completely coherent sentences.
She checked the door lock again, just to be sure. Some really strange stuff just happened, and she felt a little paranoid.
Arthur sighed. "I guess I'd better explain huh?" He said.
"Probably a good idea" said Skye, his eyes a bit sympathetic.
Arthur sighed, "There's a lot to it Septima, and I'm sure you have questions, so I'd start asking if I were you."
"Where the hell do I start?" she gasped, "I think I need some time to wrap my mind around everything, and honestly, seeing a bunch of people in there dying wasn't exactly good for my mental state. Like… what's even going on anymore?"
She slid down one of the walls and sat down cross-legged against it.
Arthur sighed. "I half wish stuff like that would actually faze me." He said. "It's like I don't have a heart."
