Arthur nodded, "And I know that I can be over sensitive, and insensitive at times as well.. "
Arthur nodded, "And I know that I can be over sensitive, and insensitive at times as well.. "
"I know as long as I can stay focused on the task at hand, I'll be fine. Is there anything I can do to help you?" she offered, her voice becoming a lot calmer as she cooled down.
Arthur sighed, "Other than putting up qith me and my weirdness? Not much…" he said. "Though I'll warn you now that I'm completely unpredictable."
"So I've gathered," Septima replied, "And that makes it a lot more difficult for me to keep my cool. You see, I… My job, my background, I had to keep everything in order all the time, and my bosses would practically crucify me for my mistakes, and the mistakes of those under me. So let's just say I've learned to run a tight ship."
Arthur looked up at her. "Why do I always have such horrible luck?" He asked of no one in particular.
"Man, you and Aurelius both," she replied, "I can't claim to understand, but like… you've seen some stuff I haven't. A lot of it. I'm not great at it, but if you want to talk, I'm here. I try to be."
"I didn't mean that." Said Arthur, "It's just, everything about me is literally chaos. You can't keep a tight ship if I'm on it."
"I realize that now. I'm trying to break the habit, because this time, you and Skye are the ones who really know what you're doing, and no one's going to rip me to pieces because one of the boys had their shirt untucked, or some dumb thing like that… It'll take some adjustment, but I'll try to loosen up, for all of our sakes."
Septima lowered her head.
"I'll do my best."
"I just hope we don't end up hating each other.." he said, "To be quite honest I usually annoy myself before anyone else, and by the end of the day I've usually driven myself up a wall."
"I don't think I could ever hate you," Septima said, "Irritated? Sure. It happens. It happens with the people I love most, even. I know you have good intentions at least, and that means a lot more to me than just about anything else."
Arthur gave her a long look. "Not to be rude or anything, but I'm honestly wondering how long you can keep that up." He said.
"Huh. Which thing? There's a lot," Septima replied, crossing her hands together.
"My chaos might just drive you crazy" said Arthur randomly turning the cieling blue.
"As long as I can let off steam every now and then, I should last the mission," Septima said.
She looked up at the ceiling and smiled a bit.
"I'll be okay."
Arthur nodded. "I hope so" he said, getting to his feet. "Now if you don't mind, It's late, there's a comfortable bed, and I'm tired."
"Don't mind at all. I was thinking the same thing. Sleep well," Septima answered, heading towards her room.
She waved.
"Goodnight."
Then she walked through the door, closed it behind her, and changed into her pajamas before lying in bed.
Arthur flopped onto the bed as soon as he could, but he immediately rolled over and began drawing designs with his magic, determined to rest, but also stay awake.
Septima went ahead and drifted off; she knew she would need her energy for the days ahead. She just wanted to fast-forward through it so she could save those people.
Arthur law awake for hours, forcing himself to stay that way, occasionally practicing his levitation and gravity manipulation to stay awake.
Septima awoke suddenly in the middle of the night, gripped by fear. She sat up in bed, trying to remember where she was. Remembering may have been worse. This place could be dangerous.
Arthur had wandered out into the main hall, trying not to sleep. Hearing a rustle in Septima's room he became suspicious for a moment, before moving on to his levitation and gravity change techniques.
Septima got up and paced around her room a bit. She lit up just the tip of her finger to get a soft glow to illuminate the area enough so she could see where she walked.
Arthur heard her pacing, and finally knocked on her door, "Are you Okay Septima?" He asked tiredly.
She stopped for a few moments to decide whether to respond. He must have heard her, otherwise he wouldn't have bothered, right?
Septima put her light out and opened the door.
"What are you doing up?"
"Trying not to sleep." Said Arthur flatly. "Unlike any normal person. What about you? Are you okay?"
