"Fine," Aspen muttered, sitting down. "My parents are… special. They wanted me to follow in their footsteps but I had other plans, so I dropped out of college and started working here. I told my parents I was only taking a break from college to intern at the county courthouse, but of course, that isn't what happened. When the owner here retired, he handed off the place to me, and viola. There's a bunch more that isn't needed, just the fact that I'm a disappointment. Happy now?"

(Jay explained what happened at his gang dispute and Aspen explained why he was hiding so much from his parents, after both were forced to speak by Oyoyo)

Without any hesitation, Aspen immediately threw his worries aside and hugged Oyoyo tightly. Other people needed support other than himself.

"Oyoyo, please don't end up like me. Don't let your parents make or break you. I've wasted my whole life hiding, you shouldn't waste your whole life grieving." Aspen consoled.

"The last thing I said to my mom was that I hated her.", Oyoyo said. "I left her. I still dislike her, but I regret telling her that I hated her. She committed sucicide the day after I left. Before my mom committed suicide, she said she wanted to be with my dad, who died when I was really little. I watched my own dad's throat get sliced open by someone he had fired.", Oyoyo said in a shakey voice. "Please, I beg you, don't end up like me. Live every moment with your parents while you still can."

Aspen had no more words to speak but plenty of tears to shed, and he stood with his arms around his friend for almost an hour, just letting all his emotions out in sobs that wracked his body like an earthquake.

Oyoyo was happy to have a friend who cared for her, despite her flaws. It was sad and painful to look back on her memories that she had tried to hard to forget. She let out all the sadness that she had bottled up for years.
