"Well, hey. I'm not 'some people'," Courtney declared. "Those people are jerks."
"Well, hey. I'm not 'some people'," Courtney declared. "Those people are jerks."
Kitty smiled shyly. "Yeah…" she agreed, a grin spreading across her face.
"Do you want a tour?" Courtney asked.
"Yes!" She calmed herself down. "Yeah, that would be great," she said calmer.
Courtney laughed. "Cool! Let's go see the design section, first."
Kitty followed Courtney's lead anxiously.
The girls walked down the hall and reached a pair of large, white doors. When Courtney pushed one open, they revealed a room full to the brim with both technology and fabric.
"Welcome to the design room."
Kitty's jaw dropped and the girl tried to stare at everything at once.
Courtney laughed. "Is that a good expression or not? I can't tell."
"This is amazing!" Kitty exclaimed. She walked around, touching everything.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you!" Courtney suddenly exclaimed. "There's a lot of stuff in here that's still being tested, so don't touch it unless someone asks you to. Unless that someone is trying to trick you. Then just don't touch it period."
Kitty jumped, instantly recoiling her hand. "Sorry…" she whispered quietly.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. It's just… I've learned the hard way," Courtney explained with a shrug.
"It's okay." She was just anxious about her results.
"If you say so…"
"So what does all this stuff do?" Kitty asked.
Courtney shrugged. "Honestly, I have no idea what most of it does. I just know that they design a lot of stuff for… certain people…"
"Who?" Kitty inquired.
Country shook her head. "Just people who need stuff like this," she answered vaguely.
Kitty bit back the response that wanted to come out. "Okay. Where to next?"
"Hmm… What about the tech lab?" Courtney suggested.
"Okay," Kitty agreed. "Will my test be done soon?"
"I don't actually know. It might not be done for a while." Courtney shrugged as she led the other girl out of the room.
Kitty sighed. A text rang in from Bryson (that was it, right?).
(I think so?)
"You should probably get that," Courtney chuckled.
