Kitty tensed and held out her arm nervously.

Kasey gently wiped the area, tossed the wipe in the trash, then took Kitty's arm in her hand. She stuck the needle in and drew the blood she needed before pulling it out.

"That's all, thank you."

Kitty sighed, very much relieved. "Now what?"

"I'll take it back to my lab and run some tests," Kasey explained. "I'll get back to Courtney and Avery as soon as possible."

"Oh." Kitty felt anxious. "Is there any way that you could know quicker?"

"I mean… I could do it here… And tell you as soon as I finish…"

"Could you please?" Kitty pleaded.

Kasey nodded. "Okay. You can wait here or I can send someone to come find you if you want to explore."

Kitty stood up. She wanted to explore so badly… "Can I look around?"

"Of course," Kasey laughed. "Go ahead."

Kitty beamed the quickly exited the room and began meandering aimlessly down a hallway.

Courtney ran after her, having been talking to someone in a different part of the lab.

"How'd it go?"

Kitty jumped. "Oh, it went pretty good. She just took some of my blood with a needle and she's testing it now."

"Oh, okay. Well, I hope it goes well. Do you know what she's looking for?" Courtney asked.

Kitty shook her head. "Do you?"

"I think she's comparing it to my blood or one of the other girls' to see if there are any similarities," Courtney said with a shrug.

"Woah… How? Sorry, I'm just so…"

Courtney shrugged. "I dunno. Science?"

"I'm really into STEM stuff at school," Kitty put in.

"I could help you," Kitty suggested. "If you want," she added hastily.

Courtney blinked and shrugged. "I mean, if you want."

"Some people don't want my help…" she trailed off, thinking of the insults.
