(But, like… Is she a super? Or what?)
(Sure! I mean, I was just bored and saw a prompt that I thought would be cool to do with you! ;D)
(Lol. Okay. Well, I just wanted to make sure whatever I did was okay with you.)
Kasey had the girls sit down across from her. She smiled gently at Kitty, giving Courtbey a glance that told her what she needed to know.
"According to what I found in your DNA, you've got some interesting… changes that have happened to you. I don't know if you were born with it, but it doesn't seem like it. It appears to have been brought on by a traumatic experience or something like that," she explained, leaning forward on her desk, her arms propped under her chest.
Kitty thought of a memory instantly but quickly shook it away. "What do you mean? Changes?"
"Well…" Kasey took a deep breath and looked down at a stack of papers, straightening them out of nervous habit. When she looked up again, her smile was sympathetic but also excited. "From what Courtney told me, you can walk around in frozen time, correct?"
Kitty squeezed her hands together tightly in her lap. Her whole body was tense, and that put way too much strain on the word then she wanted. "Yes."
Kitty squeezed her hands together tightly in her lap. Her whole body was tense, and that put way too much strain on the word then she wanted. "Yes."
"Well, according to what I found, your DNA has some subtle changes that are very similar to Courtney's and Avery's, making me wonder if you've gone through a traumatic experience lately it has an accident or something along those lines. Have you?" Kasey asked.
The memories. They hit her in quick snaps of remembrance, making her gasp unexpectedly. There was no point in hiding it now. "Y-Yes."
Kasey saw the look in her eyes and heard her stutter. Her expression softened, and she held a hand out to her to hold her hand.
"I'm sorry," she said softly. "But something did come out of it, whether that's good or not is up to you. You have a superpower, Kitty."
Kitty looked from Kasey's eyes to their joined hands. Her heartbeat pounded inside her head. "What?" she whispered softly.
"You have a superpower," Kasey repeated softly. "I know that's hard to imagine, and it's kind of a lot to take in, but it's true."
"Wh-What power?" she stammered, her eyes shining with fear… but also curiosity.
Kasey shrugged. "I don't know for sure, but I have a suspicion of one. I think you're immune to other powers."
Kitty's eyes flickered to Courtney, then back to Kasey. "Do you two have powers?"
Courtney gave Kitty a sheepish grin. "Yeah… Freezing time…"
"I knew it," Kitty said quietly, her voice teasing just slightly. She looked back at Kasey. "Do you? Or does anyone else? We… We could test and see if I'm immune to other powers too."
"I do, actually," Kasey said with a smile. "And you've already proven immune to one of them. Can you guess?"
Kitty blinked and shook her head cluelessly. What had she done since she got here to be immune to another power?
Kasey laughed. "Well, that's not surprising. Most people can't tell when someone's reading their mind. Or trying to, anyway."
"So, you can't read my mind?" Kitty asked. This girl had been trying to get into her head? Great.
"No, I can't. And I assure you, I wouldn't have gone very far if I had. I just wanted to test my theory," Kasey assured her. "I do have another power, though. One that I would be curious to test out on your 'anti-power'."
"And… what's that?" Kitty asked quietly. She was still nervous, a bit surprised that Bryson hadn't texted her back yet.
"I'm a telekinetic. I move things with my mind. Kinda comes with the telepathy," Kasey laughed. "Anyway, if Courtney would stand, I can show you something using her as an example."
Courtney sighed and stood. Kasey smiled at her, knowing that the younger girl knew what she was going to do. The doctor took on a concentrated look, and Courtney lifted in the air. With a nod, Kasey put her back on her feet.
Kitty watched in awe. "So… are you going to do that to me? Or… try to?"
