(G'nighty-night!)
As they got closer to the building, the wide glass doors slid open, and Courtney led Kitty inside.
Kitty trailed behind Courtney closely, not wanting to get lost in this labyrinth.
"So we're going to see someone who knows a lot about what we are. Or… What I am, anyway, and what you might be," Courtney explained. "She's really cool."
"Okay," Kitty said. She suddenly felt incredibly nervous.
Courtney glanced at Kitty out of the corner of her eye. "What's up?"
"Just… a little nervous," Kitty answered slowly.
"Oh. Well, don't worry. Everything will be fine, I'm sure," Courtney assured her.
Kitty saw a sleek silver door ahead. "It that…?"
"A lab? Yeah, it is. But like I said, don't worry about it. Kasey'll just take a small sample of your blood and cone back, I think," Courtney said, pushing the door open once they reached it.
Kitty hesitantly followed Courtney into the lab. Her mind tried to figure out how everything worked.
Medical equipment was spread out across stainless steel tables scattered throughout the room. A young woman stood bent over a microscope, peering into it at something.
Courtney cleared her throat and walked over, causing the blonde woman to look up in surprise.
"Oh! Courtney! Who's this?" Kasey asked, looking to Kitty.
Kitty tried not to be shy, but her voice was quiet and soft. "Katerina Vane."
Kasey smiled softly and held her hand out.
"It's nice to meet you, Katerina. I'm Doctor Kasey Taylor," she introduced herself. "Can I ask what Miss Thompson brought you here for?"
"I prefer Kitty," she added. "And, uh… I… uh…" She looked helplessly at Courtney.
"I think she's a super," Courtney explained bluntly.
"Ah… Got it." Kasey nodded in understanding. "Then you want me to check?"
(Oh sugar, I forgot to add that Kitty shook her hand lol)
Kitty withdrew her hand and watched the conversation progress.
(Lol. I forgot about it.)
"Probably. You can do that, right?" Courtney asked.
Kasey nodded. "Yeah, of course. As long as it's okay with Miss Vane."
Kitty nodded quickly. "Yes, it's fine. And call me Kitty, please. It stresses me out when people call me 'Miss Vane'. And my math teacher does it all the time."
"All right, then, Kitty." Kasey gave her a reassuring smile. "Why don't you take a seat over here." She led the girls over to a small office with large windows for walls and pulled a few chairs.
Kitty sat down carefully. She looked around the room. "What's going to happen?"
"Uh… Well, if you don't like needles, I'd suggest not asking that question…" Kasey declared, biting her lip.
Kitty swallowed and clasped her hands in her lap. "How- How big is it?" she asked meekly.
"Oh, not very big. Not at all," Kasey assured her. She kept her back to the girl as she prepped the things she would need.
"Okay," Kitty replied. She was pretty okay with smaller needles, just not with long ones.
Kasey turned around, a needle in one hand and a sanitizing wipe in the other.
"I'm just going to prep your arm and then take a little blood. Hold your arm out for me, please."
