"I- umm-" There went all his effort to stop blushing. He looked to the floor amd walked over to the seat. "I'm good for now." For now?! What are you doing with yourself, you idiot?
"I- umm-" There went all his effort to stop blushing. He looked to the floor amd walked over to the seat. "I'm good for now." For now?! What are you doing with yourself, you idiot?
She burst out laughing. "For now? You don't know?" She shook her head with a smile. "You're ridiculous, Jackson."
His face got very red as he continued to avoid eyes contact. "I didn't- That's not what I meant. I was just, I just kinda… It just came out, I didn't…" He felt like his stomach was tying itself into knots.
She just rolled her eyes with a smile. "Mhm, sure. Whatever you say." She pulled him down onto the chair next to her. "Honey, relax, it's alright." She chuckled as she noticed his bright red color.
He didn't open his mouth, afraid he'd stumble again. He couldn't even look at her as he sat. You're a bit much sometimes, Jackson.
She cupped his jawline in her hand, forcing him to look at her. She smiled softly. "You might be ridiculous but it's part of you and I love you."
He looked at her, her hand surprising him. "I love you too," he muttered.
Her smile brightened. "Good. Now relax. I'm not letting you go until you do."
That might be awhile… "Okay." He sighed a focused on… Nothing. He couldn't think of anything but her.
So she sat there and waited, just smiling at him gently. She realized it might take a while but she didn't mind. She would stare at him all day if he let her.
He glanced at her smile which did not help. The blush brightened. So, he closed his eyes. That seemed the only way at the moment.
She giggled softly, still just watching him. She'd wait. Not like she had anything better to do but wait.
He squeezed his eyes shut tighter at her giggle. Why did he have to be like that? Why couldn't he be like the dude who beat up people who got to close to his girlfriend or one that can make moves one hundred percent of the time?
She kept watching him. She didn't care that he wasn't super strong or tough. He was sweet and kind and smart and she adored that. She didn't need much and he checked all of her limited boxes.
Finally, the blush settled down and he was left "calmed down." "Okay, I'm good now." He opened his eyes slowly.
Her smile widened. "Good! I told you I wouldn't leave until you did and here I am."
A shy smile crept onto his face. "Yeah, okay."
(any plot deepening ideas?)
(Hmm, not really. But you'll have to forgive me, I just got home from camp last night and I'm exhausted)
Footsteps from the back office surprised her and when she turned, there stood her manager. "What is going on out here?" "Max, I can explain." "You better! You're always causing trouble around here, I should fire you for this!" She went pale. "No no no! Please sir, I need this job."
(It's totally chill broski! I get it)
Jackson stood up, crossing his arms over his chest. "Causing trouble? Since when?"
"Since I hired her! I'm always getting complaints that she's harassing patrons and being loud. I'm about sick of it, Ivy!" She shrunk back, all yelling reminding her of a time in her life she'd rather not remember. She started to tear up, launched back into memories. Max sighed. "Pathetic."
"Hey, excuse me sir?" He stepped in front of Ivy. "First of all, don't talk to her like that! Second, she's the one who's getting harassed here!"
He scoffed, waving Jackson off. "Like you would know anything. I know my patrons, especially Jack. He claims she's always harassing him and giving him a hard time. He wouldn't lie to me."
"I just witnessed an entire harassment issue that proves it's all Jack and his buddies." He stood up a little His heart was beating fast. This day was too much for him. "Don't you have security cameras or something to check? You can even ask the police that escorted them out."
He shook his head. "No we don't. Jack is a reliable source and the security is under a non-disclosure agreement that forbids them from talking about scenes like this. Now if you don't mind, I have an employee to straighten out." Ivy shrunk back further, silent tears streaming down her face.
"And that employee is not Ivy. It's yourself. If you know Jack did nothing wrong, why are you so worried about checking the security cameras, huh?"
