He continued to follow her until she stopped. "So… What do you have to do here?"
He continued to follow her until she stopped. "So… What do you have to do here?"
"Mostly just check out books and help people out." She shrugged. The door opened again and she already winced. In walked three of the worst disrupters in the town, Jack and his boys, Jake and Mike. "Hey, there's my sexy baby!" Jack laughed in his loud voice. "First off, I'm not your baby and second, be quiet! You're in a library!"
He glared at the two before turning to her. Everything in him ached to punch them square in the nose. "I'll be right back." He began to walk towards them.
She grabbed his wrist and tugged him back, knowing he'd only make it worse. "No, just let them do their thing. Retaliating only makes it worse." Jack leaned against the counter and smirked at her. "Damn right it will." "There are children around, watch your language."
With their second remarks, he turned back to her. "I'll just be a second. I have to go to the bathroom." That was a lie. They needed to back off. He'd never been in a fight before- never really wanted to either. Somehow, she brought out a side of him he'd never seen.
She sighed quietly but let him go. "Alright, fine." She let herself relax before turning back to the three. "If you're not going to get anything and you're only here to bother me, I'm going to have to ask you to leave." "I'm shocked more guys aren't getting on you, what with those curves you're showing off." She stiffened, it wasn't her fault that the uniform shirt was tight but they didn't need to point it out.
Every word they said just fired up his anger even more. He kept calm though. "Hey, you three, can I talk to you guys real quick?"
"Buzz off, nerd. We're busy." Jack waved him off, never taking his eyes off of Ivy. She nearly slapped him when she realized where he was staring. "Excuse me, my eyes are up here." She huffed. "Why are you being so resistant baby, you know you want it." Jack purred lowly. "I do not. Leave. Now." Jake and Mike only laughed at her. "Yeah, how about no."
Jackson couldn't handle it. He grabbed Jack by the collar, the one mouthing off the most, and slammed him against the nearest wall. A magazine nearby fell down. "Listen here, bubba," he growled, "if you wanna look at someone look at me. Right in the eyes, what do you see? Anger, right? Back off my girlfriend you dingus or you got a world of hurt coming for you." He did t even recognize himself. His voice hadn't ever gone so low.
She knew she should call security to come take care of him but with all the humiliation and embarrassment Jack and his boys had put her through, she decided that he should get what he deserved.
Jack was not impressed. "How about you make me, nerd? I'll beat your twig ass right here." Mike and Jake took either side of him, also looking pretty pissed.
"You know what? Fine." He let go. "Fine." He turned around, took off his glasses, and placed them on the counter. "Yeah, no." He turned back around and connected his fist to Jack's jaw.
Ivy facepalmed. She half expected this and half didn't. Either way, things were about to get interesting.
Jack was caught off guard and fell to the floor but quickly recovered and tackled Jackson, smirking at him. "Look at you, you're so weak. How are you ever meant to protect a girl like her if you can't even defend yourself?"
He struggled to talk, but smirked a little. "See, unlike you, I read books. And so I know some good things." He pressed hard his fingers to a pressure point. Of course, never used them before, so I hope my confidence is well placed.
He fell off of Jackson, twitching and seemingly in quite a lot of pain. Ivy took that as her cue to end this. She rounded the counter and pulled Jackson to his feet. "Okay, that's enough. I'm calling security, you stay here." She reached behind the desk and clicked a button and three guards came out. They didn't even have to ask, they knew. They each grabbed a boy and dragged them out. Ivy turned to Jackson. "I don't know what just happened so start talking."
Luckily, Jackson was only a little winded. "I just, uh, slipped and you know." He cleared his throat. She seemed disappointed. "It just happened." I couldn't let them talk about you like that.
She couldn't fight the smile off her face if she wanted to. "It was sweet, it really was. Stupid, definitely. But also sweet." She kissed his cheek gently. "Thanks love." It was also kinda hot but I'll keep that part to myself.
"Oh, I-" His cheeks got red from her kiss. "You're…You're not mad?"
"No! Of course not! To be honest, if I cared less about my public image, I would've done the same thing." She giggled.
(sorry, currently travelling so they might be short)
He smiled a little. "Okay, good. I was, uh, worried."
"No need to be worried." She smiled up at him before returning to behind the counter.
"Are the police coming back to get me?" He'd never been in a fight before, so he had no idea how these things worked. "Am I going to get in trouble?"
"What? No! Of course not! Security knows how those three harass me every single time I come into work. If anything, they're grateful that someone did something." She kissed him softly. "Relax, love. You'll be fine."
Relief washed over him, but was quickly taken over again. "Well, why wouldn't they do anything then? They should've done something the first time."
"Because I'm stubborn and want to deal with it on my own. I call security every time but only when I feel like I don't have control over the situation anymore. I don't know why they don't just ban them."
He sighed. "Guys are stupid. Society is stupid." He looked to the ground. "I wish it.was different. You shouldn't have to deal with that Everytime you.walk in."
