"Yeah…" She sighed heavily. "But I deal with it. Life goes on." She shrugged. She turned around and grabbed his glasses for him, slipping them onto his face. "There. That's better."
"Yeah…" She sighed heavily. "But I deal with it. Life goes on." She shrugged. She turned around and grabbed his glasses for him, slipping them onto his face. "There. That's better."
He squinted as she put them on, adjusting them a little once she was done. "Still. It's not right."
"Doing what's right doesn't always match up with doing what's easiest. And trust me, no one in this town does what's right if it isn't easiest as well."
"I, that's really stupid." He leaned up against that counter. "That's really stupid."
"Yeah, it is. But there's not much I can do about it. I've tried to talk to my bosses but they just ignore me."
"Where are your bosses right now?" He said it plainly, though inside he was boiling. They don't do anything?!
"Not sure. They're never here. Usually it's just me and security." She shrugged. "I'm used to it by this point."
"That's just not right." He sighed. The world sucked, and he knew it. Why couldn't people just see that?
"Yeah but there's not much I can do about it. I've told them that those three harass me and they've never done anything. I've just learned to deal with it."
Well, they're gonna have to learn to deal with me real soon. He felt odd. He'd never been so protective before. To this extent, at least.
She giggled softly. "Don't worry about it, Jackson, really. It's alright, I can deal with it."
He didn't understand why girls had to deal with it. He sighed. "Fine, fine. I'll stop."
"It's sweet that you care, it really is." She smiled a little at him. "But I'm stronger than I look. I'll be fine."
He nodded. "If you say so." He didn't doubt how strong she was, just the ethics of the world.
She giggled softly when she suddenly noticed something on his jaw. It was a dark splotch and she couldn't see it well but she already knew what it was. She frowned slightly as she grew closer to check it out. "Ooo, that's a nasty bruise. He got you pretty good."
He touched his fingers to where she seemed to be looking at. In return, a stinging feeling decided to show itself. "Ow…" He didn't even remember getting hit there.
"Must've hit your jaw on the floor when he knocked you down." She sighed quietly. "Well, that's no good."
He took his hand away. "I'll be okay. It doesn't even hurt that much."
"No, we need to take care of it or it'll only get worse. I'll grab an ice pack from the back, stay here." She headed into the break room and grabbed said ice pack before returning to him. "Here, use this."
He took the ice pack with a slight nod of thanks before placing to his jaw. It actually was starting to hurt. He didn't notice it in the spur of the moment.
She shook her head with a giggle. "You're an idiot." She kissed him softly. "But you're my idiot."
He blushed not expecting the kiss. "I uh, Im- I'm glad."
She giggled softly and pulled him back behind the desk and plopping back into the chair. "Now that that's over, we just wait."
"Okay." He tried to shake off the blush, but couldn't seem to. He didn't understand how one second he could be so tough and then next, not so much.
She waved him over to where she was sitting. "Come on, there's another chair, sit next to me. I don't bite. Well, not unless you ask me to." She winked at him before giggling.
