"We're good friends."
"We're good friends."
"Then I will put you in the same room." They came to a door colored a soft grey. "Do not allow any turkeys to treat her impolitely," he said to Drew. "They all know what the boundaries are, but some of them forget." With that curious statement, he opened the door.
"Oh, and if you need anything, come to me. I live in that room over there," he told them, pointing to a dark red door down the hall.
Drew nodded for about the hundredth time that day. "Thank you."
"My name is Giuseppe. Get yourselves settled in." He walked away, leaving them to explore their new home.
Juliette went slowly into their room, scanning everything with her eyes.
The main room had one large window on the far wall, a nice looking sofa, and a low table. The floor was a thin carpet over hard wood. Over their heads hung a ceiling fan with a single lightbulb.
"What you thinking?" He asked as he looked around the room, "It's not bad."
"Oh, nothing…just getting myself acquainted with these unfamiliar surroundings…" She wandered off, finding a small kitchen not unlike the one at their apartment. Did they leave anything behind? she asked herself, feeling a small nervous pang.
I suppose if we did, we could just ask Giuseppe if we can go get them, she thought, opening all of the kitchen cabinets, and finding nothing inside.
He hummed, walking into the kitchen behind her. "We need to go grocery shopping."
"Duh," she said, shutting the empty fridge. "And did we leave anything at the apartment? I'm assuming we did…"
"Yeah, there's a good chance we did." He said, going back into the living room.
She found two separate bedrooms, both virtually the same; queen-sized bed, small side-table, good sized closet.
"Which one d'you want?" He asked, checking out the rooms.
"Either one is fine," she said absently, remembering when they had first moved into the apartment. Felt like such a long time ago…
He shrugged, "I guess I'll take this one," He said claiming the room closest to the kitchen.
She smirked, and went into the other one, laying down on the bed and staring at the ceiling.
He looked around the room, checking inside the closet, under the bed and ensuite bathroom. He knew that this place had more a chance of being bugged than the other one did.
"Wonder what we gotta do first," Juliette said aloud, looking for patterns in the paint on the ceiling.
After he had finished looking around he flopped down on his bed. He sighed, thankful that the initiation was over.
"Hey! What time is it?" Juliette called, to lazy to get up and check it herself.
"Uh," He checked his watch, "10:37." He called back.
"AM OR PM?"
"Look out the window!" The sky was black because it was the night.
"OH! Okay." She muttered to herself, "In that case, I'll stop yelling…"
He chuckled to himself and dragged himself out of his bed and looked through the cupboards again, expecting there to be something now. There wasn't.
She decided, if it were this late in the night, she should probably get some sleep. She got under the covers of her bed, and lay there for a while, the events of that afternoon playing in her mind, over and over.
He sighed sadly and decided to laze on the couch. He knew he should get some sleep, that would be the smart thing to do, but he was in the mafia. And he had rules he had to follow and remember but he had already forgotten half of them.
