"Um.. h-ho- I mean…" Lucas cleared his throat to try and stop stuttering. "How hot is it there, exactly…?"
"Um.. h-ho- I mean…" Lucas cleared his throat to try and stop stuttering. "How hot is it there, exactly…?"
"Hot enough to cause discomfort after a long while, cool enough to not cause serious damage and/or death." the Doctor said.
"So… like, 90 Fahrenheit?" Lucas offered, brushing stubborn tears out of his eyes despite the fact that they kept returning.
"Bit hotter than that, but yeah."
"Cool… I mean, interesting? I dunno, I'm not thinking straight right now…" Lucas rubbed his temples absently, attempting to nullify the dull throb that had formed in his skull.
"Um, do you need anything? Sorry, I haven't traveled with another person for a while-Okay, don't give me that look Susan, I mean a fully human person- so I'm not much help." the Doctor said, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
"I'll be fine…" Lucas's eyes were red from crying, but for the most part he had stopped crying other than the occasional tear. "Just… lead the way, I guess?"
"Alright then!" he said, punching in coordinates as taking off.
Lucas was thrown against the wall of the TARDIS as it shot into the air. He watched the Doctor messing around with the controls while he rubbed his head, which he had bumped on the hard metal wall.
"Doctor, why can you never stabilize this thing?! It gets annoying, you know!" Susan complained, holding onto a chair for dear life.
"You're sure that this TARDIS thing is safe?" Lucas fell sideways onto a chair, which slid quickly across the room and slammed him into the wall opposite.
"It's the most safe place for anyone or anything in the universe! Honestly, humans. Always complaining." he muttered.
Where's the seatbelts when you need them? Lucas fell out of the chair, which soon crashed down on top of him. "Er, have you ever been in like, an ordinary car?" He winced and pushed the chair away.
"Yeah, 'course I have! Aren't they boring?" the Doctor asked.
"Well, they get you to where you need to be and usually keep you in roughly the same place whilst you're inside the vehicle."
"Nah, normally cars tend to explode. I seem to attract a lot of assassination attempts." he explained.
"They tend to explode? How many cars have you even seen blow up?" I'm pretty sure they're quite safe, actually…
"A lot." he said. The TARDIS landed with a bong and a thud and the shaking and jolting stopped.
Lucas pulled himself to his feet shakily, looking over at Sarah whilst waiting for further instruction.
Susan opened the door to a near blinding light. "Colonized star. Should have expected this." she muttered.
Lucas shielded his eyes from the bright light, waiting for his eyes to adjust before blinking and looking around. He had never seen anything like this place before, and he wasn't sure whether it was safe to step on. His leg could catch fire or perhaps he'd just fall straight through to the sweltering core of the star.
They walked through the streets. Towering pillars and monasteries were an amazing sight to see. Skinny yet tall reptilian beings walked along, paying no notice to the group. Tourists were quite more normal, after all. Little shops lined the street, and the Doctor spent a considerable amount of time looking at each and every single one. "Astrosteel! Nigh unbreakable! And it's forged right here! This star is call Delphox 5, and the natives are known as Delphorians! They believe that the gods allowed them to colonize in the first place, and look at it now! Amazing!" he said, leading them through a grand city. "The Delphorians call this place Godforge, and there's an entire mythology surrounding it's history! Just think of the complex engineering that went into this place!" he exclaimed.
"Er, yeah, definitely." Lucas's head revolved as they walked, taking in the breathtaking surroundings. The Doctor had been right about the heat, but it really was fascinating here. Now he just had to hope he didn't get heatstroke or something along those lines.
"Come on, let's see the temple!" he said, pointing up ahead to a beautiful marble building.
"What's in the temple?" He's like a kid on Christmas morning, isn't he? The Doctor seems to love this place.
