Vix was trembling with fury. Magic sparked all around her, her eyes pitch black. "I want an explaination. All you've done is caused us eminant danger! I trust the doctor more then you because, despite his arrogance, he saved me. He healed me, he's been protecting Da'in, Oswald, Alison and Joe for who knows how long! All you've done is claim you bring us to safety before making us find a stupid vault! Risking both mine and Da'in's life!"
Will and Nico look at each other. "I suppose." Will smiles softly. "What do you want to know?" He asks curiously. Nico took his hand gently.
"Did I ever tell you about the man he really is? Now, if I -" Ace cut him off. "We don't have time for this bullshit. Listen, let's get this done, and then we can all go back to the chaotic order of our lives." she snapped. Da'in didn't know what to do. He just wanted to go home.
"Anything at all. How have you been? Any new developments since we last met? I see you both for married, by the way, congrats on that." Alison smiled.
Vix glares at him, her eyes slowly going back to normal. "If he doesn't kill us in the process," she growls, shaking her head. She straightens her magic flickering before going out.
Will and Nico smile, "We got married, adopted… that's basically it." Will hums softly, shaking his head.
"Yeah, I basically didn't do much either. Saved a planet here or there, made a few friends and a few more enemies, started a pretty normal family life, the regular jam." Alison sighed.
"I won't kill you, I promise. If you get yourself killed, however, that isn't my responsibility." Kýrios sighed. Ace glared at him but kept her mouth shut. He silently lead the group to a pavilion on the roof, and down cracked stone stairs, into darkness.
"Sure. Sure. I totally believe you." Her eyes are dark. As they walk down the steps she lights a fire in her hand, illuminating the darkness around them. She glances around and takes a deep breath. "Where does this lead, exactly?" She asks curiously.
Will smiles a little. "Da'in and Vixianne seemed to get along rather well. I'm glad our kids managed to hit it off so well. Maybe Oswald can teach Vix a few things."
"The tomb of an insane genius who came back to life to order all of Gallifrey around like the sociopathic dictator he is. Present company, meaning me of course, to be excluded." Kýrios said darkly.
"Yeah, we really should arrange something. I'm sure that once we get out of this, we'd all love to hang out together." Alison smiled.
Vix sighs and takes Da'in's hand. He was her only comfort at the moment. She extends her hand that held the fire, looking around the dreary place. Se shakes his head. She didn't like this.
Will laughs softly and nods. "That would be nice."
They made their way down into a large stone chamber, statues lining the walls eerily. They seemed to be alive. There was a circular chasm in the middle of the room, and at the edge of it all, a glittering black altar with a coffin of silver wood. "Shmancy. What next?" Ace asked. "Oh, you three will stay here. I'll attend to this matter." he said in a soft, dangerous purr. Ace rolled her eyes, and moved closer to Da'in and Vix, as if to protect them.
"We're coming up to the building now. Getting in will be easy enough. Easy as pie, one might say. But you need to stay alert at all times, alright?" the Doctor stopped their craft, and got out in front of a tall, dark, looming stone temple. Alison, Joe, and Ozzie followed. The Doctor took Alison's hand, holding on like she would be blown away by the swirling winds. "Doctor, I'm fine." she said, annoyed. "You may be. I'm not." he said, and with that, he lead the group up the stone steps.
Vix lights a fire to both of her hands, her eyes glancing around the caves. She swore she could hear whispering. It might be her mother's tricks again, but she couldn't help to wonder what was in the lurking darkness. What power this temple possessed. She was curious, her eyes wandering the area.
Will took Nico's hand. "They'd better be alive or I'll tear the evil Master reincarnation with my bare hands." He growls, Nico squeezing his hand as they walk. "Easy now tiger." He says gently. "Let's just make sure they're okay." He mutters.
"Pi. It's what we'll need to get in here. 3.14159265, lovely number. Shame that there's a few million more digits after that, makes it all too annoying for it's own good." the Doctor said as they entered the middle of a dark, dusty old chamber. "Don't move past here. One wrong step, and you'll be utterly destroyed. I just need to work out where one should walk…" the Doctor looked at the floor, where the remaining fragments of skeletons lay, scattered.
"All those statues. The poor souls, searching for immortality. I remember when I was younger, I nearly ended up with them too. Although, the tomb had been located in the Death Zone at the time. Actually, I had initially only been sent there to rescue the Doctor. Or his four regenerations that had been stranded there, that is." Kýrios said as he made his way up to the altar. "I'm sure this has something to do with why we're here, but why are we here?" Ace said flatly. "As long as you don't possess that knowledge, you're safe from certain death." he replied distractedly.
Vix glances at Da'in nervously. She didn't like the sound of that. She didn't like this at all. But at the same time, she grew curious, walking to the walls, her hand stretching to touch them, but hesitating.
Will and Nico listen to the doctor explain but they were quiet, unsure. Nico glances around. "Who's going to have to walk?" He asks curiously as he glances at the doctor.
"All of us. Hopefully, everyone survives the trip as well." he chuckled bitterly as he studied the symbols within the circumference on the floor. After a few minutes, he decided on a final pattern. "Alright. Wish me luck." he said, and with that, stepped on the first symbol. Then the next, and next, until he finally got across. "We need to go, now. Follow the pattern I used." he ordered.
"Ace, I'm not sure about this." Da'in whispered. "Me neither, but we can't really stop what's happening. I never wanted to be here in the first place, but I'm here either way." she replied. She watched as Kýrios pried off the lid of the coffin. He extracted something, it was pretty large, like a metal glove. It had several symbols engraved in the metal, and, just on the edge of hearing, one could swear that whispers were being emitted from the gauntlet. "Power. Mine, at last. True, raw, uncontrollable power, now mine to tame." he started to laugh, like a madman. The maniacal cackle echoed dangerously through the chamber, the room seemed to drop a few degrees in temperature as he slid his hand elegantly into the gauntlet. "Rassilon was a genius, one of the most prominent inventors of the age. Now, with just a flick of the wrist, I can cause civilizations to bow before me." he said. "Not that I'd need this to do so, but it could be useful. No, I have other plans, most notably involving the Doctor. I plan to take back what is rightfully mine, even if I kill him in the process." he said. Ace blanched, stepping back. "No… you promised that you'd help the Doctor. What…" she trailed off. Da'in cowered behind her, trying to remain unnoticed. He really, really wanted to go home now. Ace regained some composure. "What did you need us for, then?" she demanded. "Oh, just for insurance. To make sure he cooperates." Kýrios said, eyes glittering with malice.
Vix's eyes widen, her heart begins to race as she whips around to the Kyrios laughing loudly, holding gauntlet, slipping it on. Her eyes narrow and she leaps forward in front of Ace and Da'in, her hands snapping to make a shield in front of them. "We're not going with you." She growls. But then she looks down. "Leave them alone. I'll go with you as leverage, but there's no need to use them." She glances at Da'in.
Will watches carefully, before starting after him, Nico behind him. "Let's just hope to Zeus this works," Will mutters softly.
"I'm not one for playing games, little girl." he sent a wave of blue light at them, shooting the group back into the wall. "Ah, you really should have realized what my name really was. Disguises, they never get old. Kýrios, Greek for…" he nodded to Vixianne.
"Come along." the Doctor instructed, watching the others. Alison went along after, then Ozzie, and then Joe. Once they were all across, the Doctor looked to the stairs. "Let's go." he said.
Vix throws a sheild up, deflecting most of the blast. She glances at Kyrios. Her eyes narrow. "Kyrios is the Greek term for Master. I… Don't understand." She glances at Da'in and Ace for some sort of explanation.
Will nods. "If they hurt my kid, Master is dead." He mutters sourly.
"I don't understand either. Who are you?" Da'in asked. Ace turned white as a sheet, which was impressive due to how hectic her colour already was. "It makes sense now, all that blackmail. You'd have the guts to do it. Nice new body, very you. Last we met, though, you were turning into a giant cat. How're you feline?" she finally regained some courage, stepping forth to protect the other two. "That isn't amusing, really." he scoffed. "No more beating around the bush. We helped you, and we'll cooperate, sure. But tell me, where are Romana and Narvin? Are they safe? Because if they aren't, you're dead, you rat." she said angrily. "They will be safe. If you don't try anything, that is." he told her. Just then, the Docotr came running up the stairs. "So you are alive." he gasped, eyes full of mourning and regrets, and memories swimming in his head. "I am. Long time no see, darling." the Master turned to him, grinning maliciously. His dark eyes had turned black as night, the whites were no longer visible. Black, inky substance leaked from their corners, cascading down his face. "Stop. Please. Just let me help." the Doctor said. Alison and Joe followed, appearing at the back of the room. "Doctor?" Alison said carefully. "Da'in!" Ozzie shouted, as she ran up to her brother, burying her face in his chest. "You're okay… I was so worried about you.." she choked out a sob.
Vix stepped back, watching the Master. She didn't like this at all. When she saw her dads she burst into tears and ran into their waiting arms. Will cracked, holding her tightly. "I never thought I would see you again." He holds her tightly, kissing her forehead. Nico smiled, holding both of them.
"Give them back to me." the Master demanded. "Give you what?" the Doctor said. "Don't play coy. Return the memories of my daughter. You had no right to them. Now give them back to me!" his voice tore through the chamber like a hurricane. "I don't know what you're talking about." the Doctor replied stiffly. "Well then, I might as well get to convincing you, since we obviously can't do this the easy way." he said. He seized Ace by the forearm, the gauntlet crackling with blue lightning. "Go on then. I really don't think you'll do it. Kill her, then, as that seems what you threaten to do." the Doctor said flatly. Now, true fear penetrated Ace's eyes. "Doctor…" she said weakly.
Vix looks up, her eyes widen. "Sweet neptune…" She stands and takes a deep breath. She takes a deep breath. "Master. Wait. Maybe I could do it. I could restore the memories. Please." She says softly. She didn't want to see Ace hurt. She had only known the other for a short time, but she felt like the other was her sister. She didn't want to see anyone hurt. "Master please…"
"He stole them, imbecile. You can't restore them. Well, Doctor, since it seems you care so little for her, I'll just kill the girl." Ace screamed as she exploded into a blue light, disappearing. "NO!!" the Doctor roared. "Oh, so you did care. Give them back to me. Now. Or I'll kill ever one of your pets." the Master said. "You're a monster." Alison spat. "I believe he universe would agree with you on that score." he said softly, dangerously.
Vix cries out, her eyes wide, her heart racing. "What have you done?!" She shrieks. She rushes in front of all of them, throwing a shield over all of them. "Master, please. You're thinking irrationally." She pleads softly.
"The time for thinking rationally is over!" he roared, casting her a malevolent glance with his nightmare eyes. "I thought it would be easier. Less painful. I-" the Doctor was cut off. "I know what you thought. Give them back to me, and I'll let all of you go." the Master said. He looked at the edge of his… sanity, the Doctor supposed. "You're killing yourself. You can't handle that power. No Time Lord can, except… you know. I dread to think what it would do to a human. Stop this, I'm begging you. Just stop this, and come with me." the Doctor pleaded. "Give me the memories of my daughter back. I want to… she was everything to me. And you took that away." he said. "All right. Fine. But you have to let them go. Do whatever you want to me, just let them go." the Doctor said. He stepped up to where the Master was at the edge of the chasm, nonthreateningly. "I agree to your terms." he said. The Doctor gently pressed his fingers to the other man's temples, eyes closed. A second later, they snapped open. "Thank you, Doctor. For seeing sense." the Master said stiffly. He threw off the gauntlet, ignoring it as it skidded across the floor. "A mere trinket. Miss McShane will get your friends off the planet as we discussed." he said distantly. "You killed her. She can't." the Doctor said. "You really believed that? I merely teleported her outside. She'll find her way back into the tomb eventually." he laughed scornfully.
Vix shrank under his gaze, her shield falling as she watched the doctor move. Her eyes are frightened. She saw black. She shrunk. To much magic caused her pain, caused backlashes. She had used so much ability. She falters, her breathing sharp before she fell limp, her breathing low, her cheeks and forehead warm. Will held onto his daughter, watching the interactions, his eyes careful as he analyzed each and every move. He was nervous.
"Well hello there, you horrible son of a bitch." Ace appeared clutching her side, outfit drenched in blood. "Honestly, the security on this place is a bit much." she snapped. "Miss McShane. You'll get them off the planet as discussed then." the Master nodded to her. She glared as she limped over. "Yeah, right after I kill you." she growled. The Doctor sighed, turning to face her. "No. He's fine, really. I honestly expected a lot worse. Relax." he said warningly. "Doctor, no matter what you feel, the Master is still dangerous." Joe protested.
Will and Nico stand, supporting Vix. "We have our kids. And I don't think any of us want anymore trouble." Will spoke slowly. "Ace is injured and Vix is exhausted. We need to get out of here." Nico glances at Will. "We'll heal, and figure something out. Master… It has been a while. We missed you." Vix groans softly, leaning on her dad. "We need to go…" She mumbles softly.
