"Yeah… m'fine." Maddox transformed back when he hit the ground, rubbing his head and looking up at the branches. He was swaying subtly, but he didn't comment further.
"Yeah… m'fine." Maddox transformed back when he hit the ground, rubbing his head and looking up at the branches. He was swaying subtly, but he didn't comment further.
Dusty swooped down and landed beside him. She turned back and walked over to Maddox, gently placing her hand on his arm to steady him.
"You certainly don't look fine," she argued. "C'mon, let's get you somewhere you can sit down."
"Really, I'm okay." Maddox insisted, but Dusty led him away anyways. "I'm just a bit lightheaded from flying, using magic, and hitting my head."
"So you should sit down," Dusty insisted, her voice holding no room for argument.
Maddox sighed and sat beside Dusty by the pool again. He rubbed his head and felt something… sticky. He was bleeding. What do I do now?! I can't take my hand down or she'll notice the blood…
Dusty carefully watched Maddox, worried that he'd gotten hurt more than he was letting on. Her stomach clenched with guilt that she had been the cause of an injury. She noticed him keeping his hand on his head and narrowed her eyes slightly.
"Are you sure you're okay?" she asked, genuine worry lacing her voice.
"Er, yeah. Great." He slowly took his hand down, careful that his palm was facing away from Dusty. He brought his hand down to the grass, breathing a mental sigh of relief. I don't think she saw…
"What's on your head?" Dusty asked casually, leaning back on her hands. "You held your hand there for a while."
"There's… nothing on my head. I was just… I was just thinking." Maddox said awkwardly.
Dusty raised her eyebrows disbelievingly. "Uh-huh. Okay. If you say so," she said, looking out over the lake. She clearly didn't believe that Maddox was telling the truth, but she wasn't about to show that.
(I gtg. Dishes and then there's a meeting-thing I'm going to.
I'll try to be back tomorrow.)
(Okay, bye)
Maddox nodded, trying to ignore the fact that blood was spreading across the side of his head now. Just ignore it… don't do anything unless it'll become obvious that you're actually bleeding…
With a huff of breath, Dusty looked back at Maddox. She was about to say something when she noticed the blood dripping down his head. Her eyes widened and she abruptly took his head in her hands, examining it.
"I cannot believe you! You're bleeding, and you didn't tell me!" she exclaimed, letting go of him and standing up. She paced as she spoke, "We need to get you to a hospital or something. You've got to get that checked out."
(Okay, goodbye for real, now! Lol.)
(Byeeee)
"Dusty!" Maddox winced, gently pushing her hands away. "I'm okay, really. It'll heal quick, and it's really not that bad… is it?" He looked at his reflection in the water, a drop of blood distorting it. "Okay, so it's a little bad. I'm sure it'll be fine. Hardly a scrape, even."
(I'm back!)
Dusty glared at Maddox for a moment before going back to pacing. "I seriously can't believe that you don't think you need to see a doctor," she muttered, shaking her head. She wasn't upset, not really, just worried.
"I just… I don't want to worry you. It'll… it'll be fine, Dusty." Maddox looked up at her, his hand back on his head to try and stop the flow of blood.
"Please, let me take you somewhere to get that checked out," Dusty sighed, stopping in front of him. She reached out her hand, her expression worried.
Maddox hesitated for a moment before giving in. "Alright, if you insist…" He took her hand with his hand that wasn't covered in blood.
Dusty helped him to his feet. "Do you know of anywhere close by? 'Cause otherwise I know somewhere we could go…"
(Gtg. Be back in the morning.)
"I don't often go to the hospital, so no. Lead the way." He waved his hand clumsily in front of himself.
(Byeee)
(I'm back!)
"All right," Dusty said, gently helping Maddox walk. She led him out of the forest and around the edge of it, and they eventually arrived at a small, white house.
Dusty gestured to it, saying, "Welcome to my house, which also happens to be a doctor's office."

"Lovely… let's go inside." Maddox was still holding his hand to his head, blood seeping out from between his fingers. "Get this over with…"
Dusty smiled and walked up to the front door, digging a key from her front pocket to unlock it. Once she had done so, she opened it and stepped inside, gesturing for Maddox to follow her.
"I'm sorry if my dad badgers you," she apologized in advance.
