Dusty nodded. "Yeah that sounds good," she agreed, blushing again as she remembered what her dad had said to her. "It– uh– It was nothing."
Dusty nodded. "Yeah that sounds good," she agreed, blushing again as she remembered what her dad had said to her. "It– uh– It was nothing."
Maddox seemed skeptical, but didn't question it. "Alright, let's go then. It'd be quicker for me to transform into a unicorn, but obviously that's not an option."
"Definitely not," Dusty replied quickly. "You heard my dad: no transforming for at least twenty-four hours."
"I know, I know." Maddox held up his hands defensively. "So that means we'll have to take the slow route."
Dusty nodded with a shrug. "That's fine with me. It's a nice walk."
"Alrighty." Maddox began walking into the forest, looking around for key landmarks to lead him in the right direction.
"It's so pretty out here, isn't it?" Dusty mused, glancing around at the forest.
"Yeah… one of the reasons I chose to live here. It's a lovely place."
"It'd be so cool to live out here," Dusty agreed. "No pun intended…"
Maddox smiled softly. "I'd welcome you to join me, but I presume you'd rather live with your family. My family is the forest, so it only makes sense that I live there."
Dusty nodded slowly. "Maybe I could convince my dad to move out here…"
"I could never ask you to do that. You have a nice house, your dad's got a job there… it would completely change your life, and I can't guarantee it'd be for the better."
"But it's so beautiful out here! Where else am I going to find something this beautiful?" Dusty asked, gesturing with both arms to the forest around them.
"Well, you're welcome to visit any time." Maddox smiled. "But forest life isn't for everyone. It's quite difficult to have a doctor's office in the middle of a fest." But on the other hand, if we got married she could come live with me. A slight pink tint rose to his cheeks. What am I thinking?!
(Lol. Maddox…)
"I suppose that'll have to do…" Dusty sighed. "I'll come as often as I can."
(He likes her lol)
"Er, yeah. You're always welcome." Why must I be so awkward.
(I can tell! ;P)
Dusty smiled at him. "Thanks."
"Well… um, yeah. We're almost there, right?" I suck at small talk.
"I think so… You were the one leading the way," Dusty pointed out.
"I'm starting to think that was a poor decision…" Maddox looked around to figure out where he was. "I think it's… this way?"
Dusty's eyebrows shot up. "Please don't tell me we're lost…"
"Uh… of course not!" Ugh, my sense of direction is much better as a unicorn… His head was spinning, and he looked around anxiously with slightly blurred vision. "Uh…"
"Maddox, are you okay?" Dusty asked, reaching out to stabilize him with her hand. Gosh, I've asked that two too many times today…
"Yeah, fine…" Where are we? Is this even the right forest?
Dusty stepped closer, looking over his face. "You don't look so good…"
