“I don’t like school in general.” He shrugged, sighing softly. “I’d rather be home.” Jamie flashed her a small smile. “What’s your name?”
“I don’t like school in general.” He shrugged, sighing softly. “I’d rather be home.” Jamie flashed her a small smile. “What’s your name?”
Meghan, she wrote in her intricate cursive. She'd practice her name with calligraphy every day when she was bored, so she made it look easy with her screen and stylus.
Robin opened his notebook and minded no attention to the others in the room. He just started writing some trash story about a table. It made no sense but whatever.
Graye had accidentally zoned out in one of her silent panic attacks for the moment, but just snapped out of it. She noticed the room was more full than before. She saw a kid she knew as Jamie talking to Meghan. Then she noticed Cat. Her face turned into that of a protective mamma bear as she glared at Cat. 'If she so much as talks to Meghan the wrong way while I'm in focus….' Graye softly growled down at her paper, trying to calm down.
“I’m Jamie! You can call me Jam.” He chuckled at the nickname. It had been given to him during a class when they were watching something on jams and jelly. He found it amusing and took to it.
Finn looked around the room. He tried to see if he recognized anyone but no luck. He missed a lot of school last year when everything happened plus the rest of the year was spent trying to get his sister back. He didn’t have a lot of time to make friends.
Alyssa arrived to class late, as always. She had been hanging out with all of her 'friends' and catching up with them before classes started. She walked into the room with an air of confidence and sat down in any spot then took out her phone and texted her 'friends' like they mattered so much.
Graye calmed and looked up again. She spotted a black-haired boy up in the front of the class. By his appearance, he looked to play a sport. Football probably. She waved a hand to catch his attention, then smiled at him, patting the seat of the desk in front of her as an invitation.
Finn looked at the girl and smiled. He got up and sat down in front of the girl. He didn’t recognize her. “Hey I’m Finn.”
Graye held out a hand, grinning. "Graye. So you're a drama lover huh? You look like you'd be good on the stage." she said, quite sincerely. "Or are you planning on being a behind the scenes kinda guy?"
“I hope to be on stage. I’m too busy for any big parts tho so like a minor character,” he admitted. “How about you?”
“I’m Jamie! You can call me Jam.” He chuckled at the nickname. It had been given to him during a class when they were watching something on jams and jelly. He found it amusing and took to it.
Meghan smiled. She liked talking with Jamie – Jam – very much! So many people around her were talking.
(Is anyone going to be the Drama teacher?)
(If you want, I can. I'll just impersonate our one English teacher who runs the musical.)
Graye smiled and shrugged. "I do very minor parts when necessary, but I'm definitely an artist. I do most of the sets. That portrait behind the teacher's desk? I painted it."
Meghan overheard Graye say she painted the portrait behind the teacher's desk. She was curious, so she looked. It was so good!
(Could you please? ;)
(Sure!)
Mr. Gielow bounced into the class room. "GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!!" He was hyped up on his mixture of Mt. Dew and coffee. "Wow! We've got a big class!" He grabbed his chromebook and went up to the front of the class and quickly went through rollcall.
Meghan jumped. He was certainly a loud teacher…
(Oh ho… Meghan, you have no idea! XD XD)
Mr. Gielow finally put the computer away and clapped his hands loudly. "All righty everyone! Welcome to Drama!! I hope everyone's as excited as I am! Now, I'm going to pass out these syllabuses, and you need to have them signed by your parents or guardians and returned to me by Friday. Well, everyone except you, Finn. You're good." Gielow started passing out papers.
'Cause that'll go off without a hitch. Melody thought wryly, keeping her eyes on her phone as she listened to the teacher talk. Luckily, it didn't matter either way, because she could very easily just use the signature she'd come up with, and nobody would have any clue.
Meghan signed to Miss Tammy. What's a syllabus?
Miss Tammy shrugged. I'm not sure. Ask someone.
Well, not Cat. Meghan wrote with her stylus and showed it to Graye. What is a syllabus?
Graye smiled and explained softly, "A syllabus is basically a paper with an explanation of what you'll need for the year for the class, expectations, what disciplinary actions will be taken if a student acts up, and a little of what we'll be doing for the year."
Mr. Gielow called out, "If anyone has issues where their syllabus cannot be signed by a guardian, just talk to me after class and we can work something out."
Meghan looked over at Miss Tammy. The woman nodded and signed, We can talk to him later. Meghan smiled. Though Miss Tammy was her caretaker and translator, of sorts, she technically wasn't a legal guardian. And Meghan's parents…
Mr. Gielow pulled up a slide show and showed pics from previous years class and talked, explaining the different things that they had done in the past. "But every year's class is different. It's actually mostly student run, so it's up to you guys what we do this year!"
Meghan watched and listened, even though most other students weren't. She observed the pictures curiously.
