"Yeah, it's pretty neat," Steve said, smiling and the memory of them in the park. "Like– when we fell into the fountain." He shyly laughed, "The second time, I mean."

"God, the stares," Steve chuckled, shaking his head as they moved closer to the subway turnstiles, "I would have laughed, if I hadn't been so damned cold."

Bucky nodded, laughing a little bit. "Yeah. That was…" he shrugged, looking over at Steve again, eyes tracing the blonde's features.

That was hot, is what it was. Or– cold, rather. Steve nodded, smiling shyly when he caught Bucky's gaze, "What?"

Deleted user

"Mhm, it was," Steve said with a smile, breaking his gaze to swipe his MetroCard through for the two of them, "I guess life has a funny way of repeating itself. I mean, we're together again, and in the same place we grew up– it's like we got a second chance."

Steve quietly sighed, stuffing his hands in his pockets as they walked through the subway station and past all the late-afternoon commuters, "Yeah, except for that." He glanced at a widely-printed map of the city and all the train schedules, nodding at one of the Brooklyn-bound lines that they would take, "It'll be here in a minute," Steve smiled.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky nodded a little bit. "Yeah. We had to walk for most things. Or take–" he thought for a moment. "–the trolley?" He looked over at his friend, unsure if that was correct.

"Mmn- walk or take the subway, usually," Steve said with a soft chuckle, smiling as he talked over the constant hum of people walking along the platform, "But you liked taking the ferry, if we were going somewhere far."

Steve nodded as he looked to where the rails disappeared around the curved edge of the tunnel. He smiled at a sudden memory from there teenage years. "Hm, I don't know if you remember– but we fell asleep on the subway once," He said with a laugh, "Woke up on the other side of the city."

@ElderGod-Icefire

He laughed a little, flashes of memory darting through his head. "–I remember a little bit, yeah." He replied, looking over at the blonde with a soft smile.

"Do you?" Steve prompted, smiling as he recalled their baffled expressions when the conductor called out the next stop; somewhere drastically farther than where they meant to get off, "Ah, well, we definitely got in trouble, that day. Ma was fit to be tied when I got home."

Steve nodded. "Yeah, but its something," He said with his own little shrug of optimism, smiling softly and noticing movement it the corner of his eye, "–Think our ride's here."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky nodded, looking over to see the subway pulling in. "Alright." he replied, closing his eyes for a moment, then opening them again.

Steve waited as the train slowed to a stop and the doors slid open, casually touching Bucky's arm as they stepped through and headed for the empty seats. He looked at the ceiling curiously, wondering if it'd grown shorter or if it was just because of his fairly new height.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Bucky smiled a little bit as they got on the train, sitting down beside Steve. "It feels…different. Than in the memories." he said.

Deleted user

"Yeah?" Steve prompted, glancing around the interior as the final commuters shuffled in and the doors closed. "How is it different, to you?" He curiously asked.

Deleted user

"Hm," Steve nodded, sighing as the muffled voice of the conductor sounded overhead and the train started on its way to Brooklyn "I mean, everything looks different now," He said, looking around at the people, who all dressed and looked different, on their phones or reading.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He nodded. "Yeah. I think that's probably why it feels different." He replied, running a hand through his hair and letting out a breath.

Deleted user

"Probably," Steve agreed, comparing what he saw to his recollections of travelling around the city, "But it might also be because of the way memories make things seem…rose-colored. Nostalgia plays a part in it, too."
