”I know.” Lysander nodded. ”But that doesn't make me feel any better about it.”

Henry placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, hoping to calm him.

" I was an easy target" she said with a shrug

”That’s not an excuse.” Lysander shook his head. Honestly, to a lot of vampires, humans, in general, were easy targets but there had been laws in place for ages to keep the literally bloodthirsty species from just draining everyone. And a few to protect humans from that kind of treatment.

Evan had brought out a bottle of French champagne to toast the New Year as Charles took out the glasses.

" I'll take juice " both Tyler and Betty said

Charles chuckled and took out a bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling grape juice for them, having suspected that his daughter wouldn't be too fond of the other drink.
