Lysander winced a little at her statement as though it physically hurt him to hear that. He glanced at their daughter who was still reaching for her mother and gently picked her. They couldn't talk about this right now, not in front of Laura-Beth but… ”I’ll see you in the morning then.” he said deceptively calm.

She nodded walking out to the living room she gently made herself a little resting place on the couch

Betty of woken up sometime during the night she looked over at the microwave clock to see it was 11 p.m. the nightmares were bad they were in her head telling her what to do she knew this would happen even if she stayed in the bedroom but she don't want to wake Laura Beth up so she decided to sleep on the couch the voices were too strong they were telling her what to do she swiftly got up from the couch leaving the house shutting the door behind her she walked over to the edge of the deck looking down into the water

Laura-Beth cried for a while when her mama left but Lysander did his best to calm her down. Holding her, staying warm, singing a little and walking around the room a couple of times. Eventually, he was able to get her to fall asleep and he stayed by her side the whole time. He considered himself lucky that he didn't really need too much sleep so he could stay up and watch her. He thought about closing his eyes for a little while when he heard the door close. After making sure Laura-Beth was still asleep and safe in bed, he headed down to investigate the sound.

Betty took one long breath and stepped into the water sinking to the bottom she forced herself to stay under

Lysander heard the splash and quickly headed to the lake. He hadn't seen Betty on the couch, which worried him a little. He took a steadying breath and surrounded his body with fire and dove in after whoever was in the water.

Staying on fire underwater was near impossible, so all that really happened was that the water around him became superheated and barely touched him. ”Landing” at the bottom, his eyes widened as he saw Betty. He quickly let the heat fade from his arms, grabbed her and flew out of the lake.

He gently laid her down on the deck and used his ability to evaporate the water that stuck to him. ”Betty. Betty wake up.” he begged, gently shaking her shoulder.

Betty started couching, water leaving her mouth

He sighed a little in relief and helped her sit up so the water could come out.

She finished coucghing and looked up at him with watery eyes.

He smiled gently at her, so glad that she was alright now. ”It’s alright, angel. It's alright.” he said softly.

she shook her head ¨He won´t leave me alone. .. I need to leave go stay with Evan or something¨ she said.

”Do you think you’ll be safer from him there?” he asked, not wanting her to leave but wanting her to be safe.

¨I Think He can protect me¨ she said

He sighed a little at that, feeling a spark of jealousy. He knew he wasn't powerful enough to protect her dreams like Charles or maybe even Evan could. ”From what I've heard, Evan’s home is well protected.” he admitted.

¨ I Just Don´t feel safe anymore Lysander we barely even touch each other anymore I´m always on the couch at least Evan can hold me¨ she said.

“I can still hold you.” Lysander pointed out gently, not wanting to fight. ”You won't let me anymore, always insisting to sleep on the couch despite how much I want you to stay and just hold you all night.” he sighed. ”I just thought our daughter might sleep easier with us instead of trying to stay up because she has strong nightmares. That's the only reason I suggested it for tonight.”

¨Our daughter comes first I come after her maybe I should just marry Evan¨ she said with a sigh

”I thought you were going to anyways. With the truce and all.” he said. ”Unless you changed the arrangement and didn't tell me.”

she ran a hand over her face ¨ I Love you Lysander but I can´t do this ¨ she said.

“I love you too… more than anything but I don’t want to lose you.” he told her.

She reached up and stroked his cheek with her thumb
