Avery sneezed, the sound vibrating around the forest for a bit. "Damn it body, now is not the time to get sick and miss home," he muttered crossly before sneezing again, this time into the crook of his elbow so the sound would be a bit less.
"Are you okay?" Atticus turned his head to look at Avery, raising a curious eyebrow at the siren.
"I'm good." He says right before sneezing again. "I think I'm just getting a bit sick." He mutters, hoping the fallen angel wouldn't think less of him now.
"Do you need to find a place to rest?" Atticus dropped back to Avery's side, concerned for him. He thought he heard a small buzz in the distance, but brushed it off as just the wind.
"Nah, if we keep moving it goes away faster." He says, patting the smaller boys head. He heard a strange noise and paused. "Did you hear that?"
"Okay…" Atticus trailed off to listen to the noise. The buzz seemed to be growing stronger… louder–closer. It's coming closer. "We need to run. Hide. Anything." He rushed out to the taller boy, his heart starting to race again, but for a different as he took Avery's hand in his own to pull him along as he took off running.
"Oh, okay! We're running now." He mutters, holding on to his bag as he tries to catch up with the fast angel boy. "How are you so fast?" He panted from a few feet behind Atticus, he spotted a large dead tree with a hollow center. It was cramped, but they should be able to fit in there. "Get to the tree."
"Tree? Tree." Atticus questioned before spotting what Avery pointed out. He raced over to the hollow tree, checking to make sire it would hold them both before slipping into the space, motioning for Avery to follow suit.
Avery ducked into the tree, finally noticing how small the space was. His face grew hot as his body was pushed into the small space. Thank god this place is dark.
The space was rather cramped with the both of them in there but still manageable. Atticus's back was pressed against the tree and his body against Avery's and their legs staggered. He tried not to focus on the Avery's leg pressing against him and instead moved his cloak to cover the entrance. His face was just inches away from the siren's and he quickly tired to settle his breathing as his face flared with heat.
Okay Avery, focus on anything but the adorable angel across from you! He screamed in his head, his face growing even redder.
The buzzing was growing into a dull roar that increased the closer it got to them. The inside of the tree echoed the sound and Atticus was trying his best to control himself from whimpering or moving. "Sorry…" he whispered to Avery before he had to slowly move his hand up to bite his thumb knuckle to keep himself from making any more noise. His body was trembling as the sound crescendoed into an orchestra of deafening music, swiftly followed by the sound of several engines turning off and hunters dismounting from the vehicles.
I have to sleep, I shall reply later… Sorry, I'm sick..///
(It's okay Duskie. I understand. Get better soon! I hope you feel better in the morning and you get tons of good rest!)
Avery noticed the trembling of Atticus and pulled something out of his bag, if he was right he should have pulled out a blanket. He draped it over the both of them, hopefully bringing the smaller boy comfort.
Bad news I dont feel better//
(Well shit Duskie I'm sorry tentatively pats shoulder. I hope you start to feel better soon. Being sick sucks)
Atticus nodded his thanks to Avery as the felt the bigger guy throw a blanket around the both of them. He still didn't dare take his hand away from his mouth though and instead leaned forward to rest his head against the siren. Meanwhile, the hunters began their search circling outwards from their vehicles. They inspected the ground and the trees closely, looking for any signs of who–or rather, what–caused those loud noises.
Damn it, damn it, damn it. Avery repeated in his head. I'm going to get both me and Angel Boy caught because of a head cold. A head cold! He heard the sounds of boots stomping onto the ground and he stilled, he wondered if the noise they were making was loud enough to make some sound mines.
Atticus could swear he tasted blood from biting so hard, but he brushed that problem aside for now as he heard boots stomp in their direction. There also seemed to be two voices to accompany the footsteps.
"I'm tellin' ya, tha thing looked nearly human."
"Greg, last week you said the same thing and instead your 'monster' was just a hippie high on whatever the hell was in his 'garden'. Dude, you're gonna need to chill if you don't wanna falsely accuse another human." The footsteps halted on the other side of the tree as something was put down and propped up against it.
"What's next, you claim to see a shapeshifter but really it's just two kids getting it on in the woods? You're gonna need to get your eyes checked, buddy."
"I get it, I get it. Stahp patronizin' me, Fred."
Avery motioned for Atticus to stay put, dropping his bag onto the ground softly. Hopefully they will make a sound of surprise, at best a scream but I can work with anything as long as I'm close. He planned in his head, slowly inching out of the trunk with the Hunter's backs thankfully turned to him. Avery crept up behind them and prepared his distorted voice. "Boo."
One of the hunters screamed and dropped to the ground in surprise before turning around to face what had scared him. The other hunter flung his weapon behind him and took off running, yelling something along the lines of "CHEESUS CRISP" as he dashed away.
Avery slowly peeked his head out from the tree, wanting to watch but not get involved. I'm not a very good fighter…
(I can up the angst if you want. I have an idea.)
(Alrighty. This may take me a bit)
Avery gave a wide smile that didn't seem to fit on his face, his teeth growing sharp. He laughs, the noise of surprise was better then he thought it would be. He opened his mouth and shrieked, a sound that could bring the strongest men to the ground and burst their eardrums.
